I saw a breakdown on this

Travel - players complained about not enough 1st class seats essentially. I think they take delta. Essentially delta sends a normal 767 plane and they use it for a charter. Not sure what the bills can do

The food part being a c+ was interesting because the Bills upgraded / invested in the food / nutrition.

Then I think the other issue was hotel. Rookies didn’t like bunking with each other and wanted their own rooms

So the average food part was interesting

If Matthews does not re-sign and somehow becomes a UFA, they are all in to try and get him to join the Sabres.

There's a connection with Tage and Matthews that they believe helps, and they know the impact it would have on Matthews current team.

It's part of the reason why they're trying to maintain as much cap space as possible going forward.

Kinda fits what Gerbe said a year or so ago about the Sabres having keen eyes for a certain high profile player at the end of his current deal.

That said, Drive by Gerbe has struck out on multiple postings since then as well.
And I wouldn't hold my breath, especially if they won't spend the $9m dough on Meier...spending what $13m, $14m, or more on Matthews. ($16.3m = 2023 max contract value of 20% of Cap)? That would certainly be something.

Asplund is willing to battle along the boards, and does.

Olofsson runs away from those situations screaming like he saw a monster out of a horror movie.

we're not in a playoff race if he doesn't go on that tear. like or not. And, I've said multiple times this year he should be benched. I'm simply not going to let him get the Risto treatment. Maybe if we had goalies and defensemen who played defense, but we don't. I'm not blaming a small, soft role-playing forward who scores 20+ goals every year for being the reason the worst defensive team in the league lets up goals.

I think you just answered the point of why this team TEAM gives up scoring chances ...
but you excluded the part where he refuses to play defensively.
It isn't just him, the coach and his system are complicit yet he stands out.
He contributes goals, just gives up far many more scoring chances that the opposition cashes as goals, hence his rather poopty +/- of -17 this season and a -20something nearly every season.

They have to have a better read on him than that. Christ, I'll go out on a limb and say I expect a goal from him today because I saw him get a few nice chances last game. Before last game...all puke worthy for the last 5.

They have to see something in practice. There has to be some tell. If you can't tell who the mark is within 30 minutes, it's you.
