Asplund had elite defensive metrics last year, he took a step back this year.

Despite his regression this year, it doesn’t mean he wasn’t good defensively last year.

It’s really not that hard to understand, especially for an individual that holds himself as high a regard as you do.

Good in transition but the defensive metrics fell off a cliff and the offence was never there.

Last year he was a strong bottom 6 forward, this year he produced as a fringe NHL player.

Ottawa only did top 5 protected, perhaps that had something to do with it.
