Ya no change to coaching unless they get bounced in the first round - Fakepartofme
I think another first round exit would seismic on a number of fronts. |

"It's the greatest it's ever been"- Bettman, lying through his (frank)ing teeth - GreatGigInTheSky
Well to be fair, I don't know what else he'd say publicly.
I also think refs in pro sports is a (frank)ing racket. They make a pile of money and no consequence when they continually (frank) up.
Man even the ref, Tim Peele, (I think that was him) with the hot mic just wasn't assigned more games the rest of the season and he simply retired as normally planned.
I wish I could screw up every day in my job and make six figures for it.

They produce better apart and have since Montreal got in their heads in the playoffs. I can blame the coach for forcing them together despite this. Why muck up the entire lineup to get 10 million dollar players together when they're already producing apart? Stop trying to fix problems that don't exist... - joel878
But they weren't producing, that's the point. I get what Keefe is thinking though. Marner is arguably the best setup guy in the league and if you want to get one of the top goal scorers in the league going, that's what you give them.
I do agree that it's not working and (frank)ing up the rest of the lines and it probably needs to stop. But it can't be on Keefe when these guys go dry. He can't play the games for them. |

Matthews and Marner are both superstars who makes north of 10M a year. So does Tavares. I don't care if they're on the 4th line with Kerfoot and Accairi, they should be expected to produce. They have an issue right now pushing offense, and it absolutely is a problem. But I can't blame the coach.
I actually think Marner is the best of the 3 lately. Matthews hasn't done much with either Mitch or Willy. Can't blame Keefe when the superstars don't cash in (or backcheck on powerplays) - UsernameUnknown
I agree about marner.
And i know its not allowed to be said, but matthews hasnt been really good for a while now. Thats gotta turn around in the next 20 or so games

There was an athletic article a couple weeks ago about him busting into the refs room at a kids game to hold two teenage refs hostage and berate them for 20 minutes with the do you know who I am schtick, because he was pissed about calls against his kids team or something like that.
Was an interesting read, guy seems like a world class D-bag. |

It's allowed to be said. It kind of has to be said, I think.
I wonder if he has a nagging injury? Either way, hopefully the Leafs can get a string of points going so they can relax about home ice advantage and rest some of the big guys down the stretch. Matthews has to be 100% for the playoffs or they may be in serious trouble. |

Possibly
It would depend how they exited, how the series went,.imo.
Matthews really needs to take over a series, same with marner.

But they absolutely were, until the change happened. Marner and Willie both over 70 points on the year largely playing in spots they aren't currently in. Willie about to blow past his career high points with 20 games to go.
Keefes not forcing Marner up because of his and Willies production, he's forcing Marner up because of Matthews production.
I can see a coach wanting to get his best player going, but I can't endorse sewering two other elite players who ARE producing to make it happen. That's a poor decision no matter how it's sliced. |

Alright I'm pretty sure we're on the same team here.
I think next game is going to be drastically different anyway so I'm not too worried about the lines specifically, but definitely worried about the offensive production overall. It's a problem. |

Boston is elite this year in large part to Ullmark's extroardinary season. Not sure why people are so certain it continues into the playoffs. I would say maybe 50-50 chance he plays that well in the playoffs. - jribout
Yup see how he plays when it really counts. Swayman is there as a pretty solid back up. Still hate the B’s but gotta give em credit on a masterful season. |

I can't see how putting any player with Matthews is sewering anybody.
He's one of the top players in the world. He's definitely off this year, but sewering a player by forcing them to play with him?
Marner, Tavares, Matthews and Nylander should be line drivers regardless who they're playing with.
I'm hopeful this western disaster is just a symptom of new players adjusting to the system and they can get humming along as they should soon enough.
But let's face it. The core 4 or 5, however you choose to look at it have not elevated their game after the massive endorsement from management.
I was excited to see what these new guys bring to the team, and more specifically how it changes their identity in respect to being tougher to play against.
But more importantly, I wanted to see how the top players reacted and whether they would or could elevate their game.
So far they haven't.
And now ROR is injured, hopefully not badly.
The ups and downs this team provides is better than any amusement park. |
