He is a $5MM player that was propped up by Millsy and Pouty. Glad everyone is seeing it now - CanuckDon

Back to hockey…
Hronek will help out much needed D mobility. I single that out as the most needed upgrade & doesn’t end with only him. Also RT having them play more North South is a big adjustment from past coaches. Teams like the Bruins & Canes with solid rosters angle players into positions that are not good when they go east west. Straight on with speed is much better on the break outs & the rush. Dump ins are facilitated better & then it’s onto the forecheck & winning puck battles. Board play is always a staple of good teams. Entering the zone on the rush is great but ends there if cannot cycle or create passing lanes. Garland is a prime example of that & perimeter play not productive. Forcing 1 on 1 defender from ops & chasing the puck sets up offensive chances. Puck possession & support is everything. When we suck is when ops does this against us. They kill our shift out working us til they score or we gain possession & dump it out for line changes & they reset & come right back at us. That grinding & wearing down teams is PO hockey. Some teams are better at it & sustain it in season & in the PO’s.
That is the challenge teams face imo |

I wonder how much it will cost to get rid of Garland?

Well, they did get 82 games out of Bruce. - Reubenkincade
They actually got 103 over 2 seasons but paid him for 129, still never got a full season, very Canuck. |

A first. But Brock has to be this teams main priority. Up next is one of Myers or OEL. Use our first to trim some fat |

No here.
Bumper PP goals a product of others feeding him. He was great at finishing though. Great on the dot. That’s all he excelled at. If he would bang cuz he’s strong & thick then it’s a different question. 7m tops |

I don’t, no. But I think he’s a solid 2C probably 7 or 7.5 would be reasonable. He’s definetly given that team a jolt in the arm. I hope they keep going both for Bo and so that Detroit gets a worse pick. |

Idk bro. No sweetener is needed it’s about a fit somewhere imo.
Pitt, Minny some bottom feeders be my guess. Offseason moves from teams will help figure it out.
My ask is a 2023 2nd & a 3rd. |

Not this draft.
Agree Brock & his contract stick out. That move will take patience & hard work. It’ll happen when the offer & timing is right.
Garland is past due & very expendable imo. We have prospects that are cheaper that do much the same thing &/or can do more maybe.
Myers is the easiest to look at to jettison. After his bonus paid he will get attention.
OEL is only a matter of time & which season they buy him out. Only way that changes is he reinvents himself & his knee is 100%. He has the savvy & poise but means squat when his mobility is a huge liability. Worst team +/-. |

He is good at faceoffs and the PP. the team is better off now that he is out of the room. Dodged a serious bullet with that retirement contract |

(frank) this draft: if they don’t move up they need to move the pick. They are going all in clearly while they have Kuzy and Pouty. I don’t agree wi th the direction but they need to at least have some conviction. No more half measures |

I liked the return, didn’t like the contract but I liked him as a Canuck. Consummate pro, worked hard and got better every year. |

Ok I’ll elaborate but won’t show you up with intelligence. I’ll play on your level lol
You said not me Dries or Aman not I. I’ll paint a picture for you…
With wingers this roster has it’s a very simple concept. C’s play 200’ responsible hockey & use their wingers strengths. Sutter is gone. He was a black hole C. Wingers are fed head man passes & push with speed & skill. Get D on their heels keeping the wingers wide. Zone entered. From their it’s onto puck possession & grinding. When achieved it wears down Ops & the lines that follow have a leg up to continue that. 1st & 2nd scoring lines become more dangerous & lethal now. All of this can fall apart with turnovers or poor decisions. Smart hockey is always a trait of winners. It has to be a team mentality such as RT harps on. Any mistake can be overcome it’s when more mistakes follow up the 1st. Dominos leads to bad hockey.
Skate & work hard & play smart for each other. Hockey is all about team. |

I lean towards 1st deal more with the cap then sign 1 key UFA D eg Gavrikov or Soucy at a decent price. If 2 D then more trades for cap are needed & tbh it could rankle the fans of what that price could be. |
