It ended up being a pretty good deal for Van because they picked 20th in a lesser draft. I will think the same thing if NYI picks 16th or higher and Van pick is 42 or higher. If it's 13th and 36. I like it much less. - manvanfan
Yeah I'm definitely an Isles fan for the rest of the year |

I really don't know what she goes on about, I skip over everything.
She's a female Thomas Drance wannabe. - VanHockeyGuy
She pretty well advocates for everything that is said in here and what most want the team to do.

If they're not able to trade him without paying out the nose I really think an OEL buyout would help a ton. Past July 1st they should be able to move Myers without too much difficulty.
Miller I just don't see any other team taking. - NorthNuck
Problem is, they didn't just make that Hronek deal to trade away Miller. Unless Tocchet is trying to get Miller to move on.
Ironic to hire a coach to keep Miller in line, then Miller ask for a trade out.

Has Miller asked to be moved? I was under the impression he wanted to stay. |

Haven't heard he wants to be traded. Just making some assumptions as to why they are trying to trade him so shortly after extending him. |

Keep an eye on centre Max Sasson from Western Michigan.
Lots of teams after him including Canucks. |

I’m on record as wanting a full rebuild, have for years, however, as I’ve just said many times over, given the organization isn’t rebuilding and they want to add 25 or younger players to help their young core. I’m fine with the deal.
But yes, two first round picks would’ve been sweet. This is how Arizona and Ottawa are going to quickly build competitive teams. - DraftandDestroy
This forum has been praising Arizona and all their picks for about 10 years now and they always suck. One of the best examples of more draft picks doesn't mean you'll be good.

If this were a playoff team, the contract wouldn't look so bad. As is, you've locked in a guy who's about to be 30 for a long time at a high price, despite your roster being so flawed that you're at the bottom of the standings.
I want to believe that they would recognize their mistake and actually address it instead of doubling down like Benning always did on his mistakes |

28. Max Sasson, C, Western Michigan-NCHC: Sasson has been the center of the top line for Western. He’s a strong skater, and unusually quick for a college free-agent target, especially given he’s not small which will make him quite attractive to NHL clubs. He works hard enough with his feet to potentially play a lower role on a team. The question with him will be offense. Sasson can make plays but he’s not a natural scorer with a ton of skill.
Pronman's tid bit on him.

As I have said before Miller isn't exactly the problem. The defence is. |

Lavoie, Leason or Afanasyev at 40, would be fine by me.
Not to worried about the Pod pick, as he is a solid safe pick, that should be able to play top 6 when he finally arrives.

Yeah, Which is why I think buying out OEL as well as trading Myers has to be the move. You do those 2 things, Miller's contract becomes less of a problem. |

Bill Armstrong was named General Manager of the Arizona Coyotes on Sept. 17, 2020. A mere two and a half years ago. His mindset is completely different than John Chayka who was hired in 2016 at the age of 26 years old with no experience to run the Coyotes as a general manager.
Bill Armstrong started with the St. Louis Blues as an amateur scout in 2004, and in 2010 was promoted to director of amateur scouting. He was named assistant GM in 2018. That’s seventeen years of experience he gained before taking on the role of Coyotes GM and decided to perform a “proper” scorched-earth-rebuild. They are, in my mind, two completely different scenarios. They are currently on a purposeful and intentional path, unlike in years past. |

When you got 180 games without a shut out and have gotten goaltending as good as Van has at times.... Time for some parts to go. |

These kids rarely become anything but the Flyers just signed Will Zmolek, a big dman out of college.

Most unlikely they become anything but 135 out of 892 undrafted players in the NHL this season. |

Demko had a shutout last year, so not sure how 180 games is possible?

Absolutely hilarious that Markstrom got 5 shutouts in his entire time as a Canuck, then had 9 in a single season with CGY |

The culture and coaching in Vancouver has been just laughable for the past decade. There needs to be some major changes in the player personnel. Moving Horvat out was a great start but it can’t end there. |

It's what Shorthouse said on the telecast last game. That was 119 games ago. Not 180. Maybe I miss heard him.
Maybe they missed that one?
Demko has 2 shut outs in 117 games over the past 3 seasons.
Markstrom had 2 in 19-20. |

They wanted to offload as they didn't want to pay him 7+ for a second pairing.....

I don’t see that considering how fast they moved out Stillman. Easiest way to make fans forget your mistakes is by making them disappear. |
