Yes, with luck and consistent good moves. Will either happen, very slim. It would ABSOLUTELY have to be the perfect storm.

There is ONLY 1 option the Flyers have to turn things around, I mean only 1 option.

Big money/term contracts have to be cleared (not traded and retained), they would have to do SPECTATULAR in the drafts (get a generational player, find a super gem or two) and not make 1 single bad signing/trade over that time.

That's minimum 4 years before they can START the rebuild. Can they go 4 years without making a bad signing/re-signing...probably not.

Basically do what Chicago was able to do in 1 season. I look at the picks they have coming up, the cap space, and I am red and black with envy.

There is no chance of that happening.

All depends on the next GM. Homer does not get the credit how fast a turnaround he orchestrated. I believe it is possible to be back in the playoffs in 2 more seasons. Of course, the organizational structure must change very soon first.

Chicago is not going to be a team that can do some damage in the playoffs in two years.

It was a very different league then. The Cap was just starting out and teams were in the process of figuring it out. The same level of opportunities don't exist anymore. if the Flyers are back in the playoffs in two years. That means they are still screwed up and aren't doing things right.

Chicago dumped a lot, but their prospect pipeline is not that spectacular right now. That could change in 2-3 years.

1 g and 1 a today….2nd goal in as many games with the Hurricanes….maybe it was the Flyers and the Yotes that sucked? Sure glad we traded raft picks so that he wasn’t here anymore.

My god.

14 picks in the first 2 rounds over the next three seasons. six 1sts and eight 2nds.

Two 1sts and four 2nds in the upcoming draft and 42 million in projected cap space.

Who do we think will be doing damage in the playoffs sooner? The Flyers or the Blackhawks?

Frost will be off this team by the summer, mark my words.
- jd250

When Fletcher did his pre-deadline presser on Tuesday he TWICE mentioned Frost as one of the players he isn't going to trade anytime soon.

Briere likes Frost. Flahr likes him. Assistant coach Thompson believes in the player.

Torts isn't Frost's biggest proponent but has said he can see there is a good player in there. Wants to see it more consistency.

Is it possible Frost isn't here next year? Sure. But chances are that he will. BTW, Frost and Tippett have produced similarly this season, especially over the last 34 games (actually Frost has outpointed him, 23 to 22). There is all a four point difference for the season between them. They play their best hockey when together and are the same age.

The Flyers have a surplus of young talented players. They can afford to get rid of Frost. The poster you replied to thinks that Frost is an AHL player and Sanheim sucks.

Only way I see is if they moved him in a package to get a skill player back, maybe and team who went for it, has cap issues and needs to reset a little

And yes, let Tip and Frost grow together, if you find the right fit and they take another step forward, you have a 2nd/3rd line, Farabee, the old Farabee would make that line really interesting

Why I believe it is possible is because they have a good foundation in goal- Hart and Ersson. I'm not suggesting it is likely, and they need an "agressive retool" by shipping out 2-3 players who have term left on their contracts and get back a combo of picks and players with a lower cap hit and less term.

The current regime likes him. The current regime has produced a horrible hockey team…I agree if Comcast continues to allow this team to be driven into the ground by Fletcher and company chances are Frost remains.

I personally believe that the Flyers can't turn it around until 2 things happen:

1) This list of players are off the books without giving up any assets and no additional long term contracts are added to it

Hayes
JvR
Ellis
Atkinson
Ristolainen
Deangelo

2) They bring in younger/cheaper players that can contribute and have an impact

Are people going to post whenever Zack the Mac scores, assists or gets into a fight too?

I don’t know why anyone would expect them to start competing before #1. It’s a bad bad team that needs to draft some major pieces. And there are no corner stones on forward or D. It’s at the very least 4/5 years out and that’s dependent on Cutter and this years draft pick being a slam dunk pick. Talk of turning this around quickly should be dismissed immediately

Goal and two assists on a 90 point Hurricanes team. Fletcher literally gave him away.
Typical clown show.
