Pittsburgh's situation isn't quite the worst, lucky for them. ~$21 mill for 9 spots. The Caps have ~$9.5 mill for 7 spots. Anthony Mantha, come on down! - 333inthe3rd
Yet they sign Strome 5 x 5 I guess because he is the youngest forward on the roster? |

It is bizarre after nobody wanted to pay up for him last year at the deadline. |

Well I got to see what was left of the 2022-23 Hawks and Preds up close and personal last Saturday. 9th row, behind the visitors bench.
Lots of well behaved Preds fans, I forgot who mentioned it but yes the music is way too loud during breaks. I don't know what the attendance was but the suites at either end of the rink were empty.
Nice opening goal from the Hawks which occurred right in front of us. After that, a whole lot of nothing really. The new guy Englund I believe, plays it old school. None of this stick checking stuff for him. Tries to separate the man from the puck. It worked only half the time I think. Murphy had a blow out exiting the zone once.
I did keep an eye on Reichell and I hope I'm wrong but, the Hawks may have Dylan Sikura 2.0 in him. He's not going to hurt you defensively but he's also not going to break the game open for you either. I hope there is more to his game then I saw because what I saw wasn't much.
It was still a good time and it's always nice to see these guys up close and playing at that speed. Yea they weren't the best in the world but I can still appreciate the skill it takes to do that. - Rota's Rooter
I was there both last Thurs and Sat. I sit one section over 10 rows up behind the Hawks bench.
Thursday night game was maybe a little over half full at puck drop, it filled in a little but there were tons of empty seats and early exits. Sat. game was better attended overall, but yeah there were some empty seats and boxes. I'm not gonna be the "get off my lawn" guy and complain about the music being too loud, but anytime they want to get rid of the clown who does the crap during the breaks it will welcomed.
Most of these pickups won't be around past this season. Doubtful Englund is around next year, Tinordi also. Hopefully C. Jones can be gone too. I don't understand why C. Jones gets a regular shift over Mitchell.
In regards to Reichel, I think he is fine and will be fine. He is out there with AA and Kurashev, not exactly offensive juggernauts/finishers. He has actually been pretty good at attacking the puck and creating some chances. I see him make some decent reads and plays, and his support is just not where it should be or where he thinks it is.

Not bizarre. Strome is what he is, hasn't changed much. He's a decent offensive player, who is weak defensively. He will generate around 50-55 points when playing with the like of Ovi, Kane, ADB, etc. without them he is not gonna drive scoring much. In that sense $5mx5 is probably a slight overpay. |

Hawks won the ADB trade if only it helped the tank.
I cringe when you compare KK to Klingberg, who has amassed the worst defensive metrics on the worst defensive team in the league this year. (yes that even includes Murphy). - LAHawk
Yea really don't care for that comp, hopefully he works on the defensive side of his game. When you do think about it once all the dmen pre KK begin to come up Cat would be almost 30 years old?

i agree with Barstool Chief and Emily Kaplan who believe the Hawks forced Kane out by letting him know there would be no extension offered. https://goodkarmabrands.c...hicago/the-hockey-show-2/
Moreover, Barstool rightly upset that the Hawks lied about the entire situation rather than telling everyone -- including Kane -- that they had decided to go forward without him. Whether or not that was the right decision isn't his issue - it's that as usual, the Hawks/Wirtzes aren't truthful with the fans, whether it's Kane, Foley, Edzo, Beach, McDonough, Bowman et al. |

Wouldn’t it make more sense to trade Tavares than Nylander? Tavares is much older and certainly isn’t getting any faster. - ObeseOprah
Teams aren't interested in JT

Kane knew a long time ago there wasn't gonna be a new deal; he was eligible for a new deal last summer. |

Klingberg was described as KK’s ceiling. It is unrealistic (and unfair) to assume he will be a franchise dman. Let’s be real—DeBrincat wasn’t traded because Davidson wanted the 7th overall in a bad draft class (and he certainly didn’t know KK would be available in that spot). Rather, Cat was traded to best ensure the Hawks had the worst record in the 2022-23 season. |

Listening to Richardson in the pregame chat, he indicates that Reichel will be here for a while. Dare say here to stay. After all not much top end ability and now Reichel looks more ready than ever
Richardson spoke how Reichel thinks and makes good plays. He added that Reichel might get bumped up to the first power play unit. Not too encouraging, though, when Richardson himself goes on to say “if you can call [the first grouo] the top power play unit.”
Now just hearing Scott Foster is going to be the emergency back up for Ottawa tonight. The radio guy Powell and this Joe guy…..say that Foster has been the back up practice goaltender this season from time -to -time when the Blackhawks needed someone |

That and the trades the team made should have had him asking out earlier. We are going in another direction. It's use not u. |

I just think it's more complicated then that. I think KiD was trying to show Kane by trading Cat and others away, not resigning Kubs and Strome, he wasn't part of the future. I have to imagine Kane who has been taken care of by the Blackhawks, probably even had his ass kissed by the franchise. Kane probably couldn't believe it, in denial and sounds like he didn't want to leave, sounds like he was expecting to be resigned by the Blackhawks. I give KD a ton of credit from what it sounds like he pretty much just had to tell Kane look you gotta pick a team.
