Why would Karlsson waive his no movement clause for St. Louis? They are just as bad and rebuilding as the sharks. He'll want out of San Jose after this dumpster fire of a season definitely but not for the blues. He wants to win and a team who was bounced early in the playoffs will make a pitch for him.. Toronto or Edmonton possibly

The Blues wouldn’t make that deal unless 50% retention which Greir would be stupid to do. I don’t think he would wave to go to the Blues anyway. I’d love to see the dynamics if he would go to Edmonton.

That trade absolutely makes no sense, from the cap perspective alone, I can't see dealing 2 firsts & a younger talented dman and taking back a guy who has had 1 healthy season in 5 and a massive cap hit into the backend of his 30s. You are doing the Sharks a massive favor but bailing out their stupid spending decision and making it your stupid spending decision. Parayko has a large cap hit but even at 6.5 he would still save the Sharks 5 million per year.

Eric Carlson.

Both names wrong.

Even if both teams wanted to do this, why would Erik Karlsson agree to this? So move your family from sunny San Jose to the wonderful city of St.Louis to still not compete for a Cup? At least Edmonton offered the appeal of playing with McDavid and Draisitl, whereas St.Louis has Schenn, Kyrou, and Thomas with cap hits of $23M+

Karlsson has complete control and isn't waiving to go to a likely non-competitive team. While Karlsson is a massive risk given his age and injury history, some team at the end of their perceived competitive window likely will be interested in him after this season. Grier should have moved him already if a decent return was possible. San Jose needs a rebuild worse than any team in the league.

That a lot for St. Louis to give up for Eric Carlson, who as far as I can tell, isn't a hockey player.

The Blues traded away O'Reilly, Acciari, Tarasenko and Mikkola really retooling instead of rebuilding? Based on the assets they have received back I would say it's the latter and not the former. Not sure that Karlsson fits here?

Absolutely NOT. For 2+ years everyone is saying (rightfully so) the 3 big dollar D-Men are not getting it done. The Blues are no better DEFENSIVELY with Karlsson, maybe worse. You are in a 2 to 3 year rebuild whether you like it or not. Snuggerud is lighting up the NCAA as a freshman. Bolduc is on fire in the "Q" and one of the hottest players since being cut from the world juniors. Both will be ready. The deepest draft in 20 years is less than 4 months away, and if the hockey Gods smile on the Blues, they may just get one of Bedard or Fantilli. LEAVE IT.

I think Erik Karlsson is immovable. Even with the bounce back year. If Grier was offered anything close to a first round pick to get out of that contract. He should be fired if he didn't accept. He's been good this year but one little ankle/knee tweak and hes back to a pylon.

The Sharks chose EK over Pavelski and the team died at the moment. Now they are just hemorrhaging talent each deadline.

Karlsson has actually sent mixed messages throughout the season, When the current campaign began he said he didn't sign in San Jose to go through a rebuild and now it sounds like he could have been traded to a contender at the deadline but Karlsson wouldn't budge on leaving the Bay area as if moving is a big pain in the ass. I really don't think Karlsson has an ounce of passion in him as long as the checks keeping clearing.

trade could happen today if wanted as trades are allowed after the March trade deadline, but those traded players are not allowed to play in the playoffs for their new team

Pavelski wouldn't have made one bit of difference. Wilson put the org. into decline with a weak prospect pool and albatross contracts of Burns, Jones, Vlasic, Couture, Hertl. Sharks had their competitive window and it is long past time for a complete rebuild.
