This sounds fun👍
Curious how Sabres fans will be in the building?
Road games have had a pretty big turnout. |

? I'm not following.
You were talking about being ok with Mitts walking when he had UFA status, not next season. Which would be end of '24-'25 (6th year) season if I calculated properly, and after a 1 year contract (seems unlikely)...which would give Kulich & Peterka 2 more seasons to further develop, and probably 1 year of AHL experience for Savoie.
All I'm saying is letting him walk as a UFA is bad asset mgmt, which should never be out of vogue. Get something for the asset that is leaving. - IonSabres
UFA is 7 seasons or 27, so I think you're off a year. They have a little time. Deferring on a decision again after this bridge deal is problematic, as we've seen too many times.
I don't know why we're assuming all of the prospects are going to be so slow to hit the NHL. History suggests we should start to see some next year.

Quinn has had good underlyings the whole season and the points are finally reflecting it now that he’s been put in a position to succeed.
He didn’t get points earlier in the year due to puck luck and being in the bottom 6 for the most part.
He’s already a legitimate top 6 forward. The two best rookies in the league this year play for the Buffalo Sabres.

See this is where i start not believing charts. As most here who watch all the games this chart does not reflect his game.
Im a 50/50 guy on the eye test vs charts. This proves my point at least to me.
Anyone have powers chart?

And all I’m saying is that starting next season and beyond, asset management should be a far away secondary concern to winning games.
If Mitts helps us win games over the next few years while guys develop and ends up walking in UFA when we’re comfortable with the younger players, so be it.
This urgency to trade him now is ridiculous - sbroads24
Feels like your focus here is very singular. What if you rephrase that to the priority this offseason needs to be addressing the organizational weakness at D? If Mitts is a long term piece, then you have to consider changing course and using F prospects and picks to address it.
There's no scenario where walking Mitts to UFA makes sense.

I’ve stated a few times if there’s a deal that makes sense (Mitts for a young D) I’m totally fine with that.
Where I disagree is feeling like it’s necessary to sell this offseason.
If they are able to add a good middle six forward and have a D for F swap lined up that’s fine.
But as both of us have said, we’ve been lucky with injuries this year especially at forward. I’m not thinning the forward depth just to do it |

Do you agree with thirtysixensons earlier post: throwing out the idea of a samuelsson type deal for mitts.
Long term lower avr? Maybe 6 for 28ish million?
I know you ask the questions around here..... |

Do the Bill's keep tremaine Edmunds? - Boss34
I just heard they didn't franchise him. Figure someone will bid more than the Bills willing to go. |

0-6 or 0-5 this year
But but but. We are on the road. We play better on the road.

If you decide on keeping Mitts long term, that deal makes sense.
It's 36, I assume that deal isn't his favorite and he'd prefer going with the kids sooner rather than later.

It's funny Catch22 with fans....
Player is playing poorly; trade 'em now!! At the lowest trade value.
Player improves; can't trade 'em now, he's finally play ok/good. At the highest trade value.
Mitts is finally playing pretty dang good, no doubt.
When a younger, cost controlled Player is ready to replace him, I am all for it.
I'd also consider trading him this offseason in a package for 2RhD if it took him being included. I wouldn't hesitate.
Him outproducing younger replacement players and staying is good too.
Summary, he's an asset to be used like 22 other guys to maximize the opportunity to win.
But never, ever should he be allowed to walk for nothing, not with what the have invested in him to finally look like an NHLer. Proper asset management is a piece of a winning culture. |

My eye test says he's been better than a 1/10 defensively, although maybe that's just because I'm grading on a scale as a rookie. It can be tough to accept biases even when recognized |

I definitely don’t want to lose him for nothing.
I just hope the team prioritizes trying to win as much as possible over worrying about it |

1 of Olofsson or Mitts needs to be moved, I really am not a fan of either but if I was to keep 1 it would be Mitts for me. But you can't give him a 2 or 3yr deal and walk him into FA if you do keep him. He still a asset especially if he keeps playing the way he has been the last 2 months. |

Doesn't Mittelstadt have one season after next before becoming a UFA, due to number of games played the past 5 seasons?

I didnt mean to misquote you in regards to the mitts- deal.
I just thought it was an intriguing idea.
Makes a lot of sense to me.
Mitts looks like a very good 3rd line 50+ point vibe guy.
I'm not sure about 8 years, but 6 years.... at under 5ish...
Give mitts , olofsson's $ |

Well if you are gonna sign him I could see 5 or 7yrs 4.75m Avv. If he keeps playing well and when a Kid is ready Savoie Ostlund Nadeau. Then Mitts becomes a very good trade chip. |

Granato said Jost in for Peterka. Samuelsson and Stillman remain out. Both skated at home. Pilut is insurance. Goalie? “Good question.” I saw UPL heading down hall. Might be him. #Sabres
