Uhhh, the Penguins are 5-5 in their last 10.
That same pace the remainder of their games gets them to 93 points, and that's giving them a 10-9 record the rest of the way. - kingcong39
We go 6-4 the rest of the way we are at 92 pts.

I think the above is Cleary wrong IMO.
The only reason we have a country where we can debate this kind of subject is because of the men and woman who have died for our rights. To stop and pay some respect before a fooking GAME is the least we can do. its 2 mins out of our preciouses lives. - hehateme
What else are we to do to start the game?
Baffles me to even think this is an issue to people. |

Yeah, because military appreciation nights and kids dying of cancer are even remotely close to the same thing.
That’s like saying, my favorite foods are lobster and skittles.
Also to your cancer point do you ever notice how the NFL just did away with breast cancer awareness month in October and changed it because people were pissed off that the NFL was only recognizing breast cancer and it was hurting their image and bottom line. - ImThatGuy
Breast cancer awareness nights are a great example of pure marketing to gain the interest and financial support of women. Not surprised to hear that one of these leagues is no longer playing the game. Only matters if it brings in more dollars than dollars that are no longer directed to them in reaction to it. These are two faced, greedy people with no allegiances to anything other than money in my opinion.
And just for sugars and giggles, do you think in a business dominated by men that they might simultaneously have testicular cancer nights. Have you ever heard of a team having a night in support of men who suffer from this tragic disease? It seems to be all about insincere marketing to me. |

Based on their modelling, 96 points would give them a 93.1% chance.

I would imagine 90% of the players if not more participate in Movemeber.

Well gonna say this and nothing else!!
I am a Vet and my Mother has Cancer. To think there is a problem having either night at a sporting Event is utterly Ridiculous. Just to spread Awareness or Appreciation is never forgotten. |

I think it is.

I’m not getting too deep into this discussion
I think it’s stupid to do at regular sporting events. You don’t. Cool - sbroads24
As a veteran who also has/had multiple generations of veterans in my family I agree with you. |

Nobody said there was a problem with it.
Sports teams are very calculated In Which events they have/sponsor as are all business’s.
It boils down to one thing 99.9% of the time, will this action/event etc hurt or help the bottom line. |

No, its a kick. - DirtyDan
I not trying to be a smartass or a troll. But, he didn’t really “kick” at the puck, while he stuck his leg out, like he was trying to knock the puck down so he could get a stick on it and instead it deflected into the net, but it wasn’t really a kick. The refs saw on the replay that what looked like a kick in live action wasn’t so cut and dried upon further review.
Stuck leg out (kinda looks like a kicking motion doing so. Puck hits leg after he stuck it out and deflects into net. I don’t think he kicked it in. Tough call, I can see being upset about it, especially when the initial call was overturned.

If he turned his skate yes not a goal but he turned his leg from what I seen and it went off his leg. - SABRES 89
Turning your skate is allowed now, as long as there’s no kick. Marchand and Crosby have both scored against FL with the slick skate turn to direct puck into net. |

Do any of us believe they're going to go 14-5 the rest of the way to get to 96 points? No.
10-9 or 11-8 feels more likely, and I don't think 88 to 90 points will get the job done. |

He turned his leg and stuck it out, I don't see how it is not a kick.
If that's a soccer ball its not a question what he did, but because we are in a sport with a puck we are trying to differentiate the two.
To me it looked like he was playing soccer out there.
Appreciate the neutral view though. |

78.5, states a goal should be disallowed "when the puck has been directed, batted or thrown into the net by an attacking player other than with a stick. When this occurs, if it is deemed to be done deliberately, then the decision shall be NO GOAL.
If he does not stick out his leg the puck does not hit his shin pad directing the puck into the net. By merely sticking out your leg it is a kicking motion, Hell just walking can be considered a kicking motion. |

Sure, but that goes the other way to. Cancer is Expensive. You don't think Roswell and ECMC use the Sabres to. It's a way to spread Awareness and maybe someone makes a donation cause of it. |

The fact there is a legitimate debate about whether the anthems should be sung before games is a testament to the failue of leadership and institutions at all levels in the United States over the last 40 years. How many institutions have all of us lost so much faith in to get here?
I'll just toss public school teachers and their unions out there. I couldn't imagine people I respected so much as child whom I loathe so much now. Shame on them. They're as bad as politicians and often controlling many of them.
But, most any American (and Canadian I'd imagine) is filthy rich by world standards. We've got stuff for miles and miles.
The anthem and flag offends some.
Knelling for the anthem and flag offends some.
Not playing the anthem offends some.
We had a solid run, and we've still a good 80 years of downward spiral left. Nobody else put 12 men on the moon. |

Beating the trap is not rocket science, especially with speed the players have these days.
Soft chip into the corner and go get it.
Trying to skate through a wall on the blue line is not the way. My 9 year old daughter knows this. Chip it and go get it. This isn't something that needs to be practiced. A simple adjustment on the bench is all that is needed, not a days worth of practice. - Stripes77
Probably should consider firing donnie for not adjusting?
He should have seen this a mile away.
We're kinda a team that flies up the ice with the puck.
Attack with speed.
Built that way....
Adjust of course, master the craft with little preparation, maybe asking too much of a young team?
I respect your opinion and your daughter's hockey knowledge ☝️

Baseball started playing the National Anthem in 1918 NFL in 1941 I hardly think they were getting paid to do so, more likely it was for Patriotic as at that time we were in war. Maybe since then teams have been paid in some capacity by the goverment but for what I have no clue.
I am a Patriot, I love this country and I respect the HELL out of any man or woman who has fought for this great nation without conditions. I have taught both of my kids when you are at a sporting event or anywhere you hear the star spangled banner, you take your hat off, put your hand over your heart and stand at attention.
thats just me... - hehateme
Baseball I believe always played the anthem. But do your research on the NFL. Maybe what I have read is bull but I did not write it. From what I have read they were paid to play the anthem.
Either way, the anthem should be played before every game and no one should think about kneeling. As bad as my voice is I sing the anthem every time with my hand over my heart. And if the NFL has been paid to play the anthems they should refund all the monies they have received one hundred fold to organizations that help veterans disabled in war who fought for these leagues to exist in a society where they can make the billions they do for playing games. IMO
