I'm sorry - I've seen whackos - and to be fair it's largely on Twitter as opposed to actually accredited sites - making this false equivalency between Foligno and ROR and it's irritating to me.
On a similar note - and I say this in the context of this message not as a reply to the other because I don't want you to think I'm attacking you - which talking heads have said that McCabe is a 5/6 on a better D?
The reason I ask that is that by all accounts and measures, he's a top-4 D. He's basically Muzzin-lite - he's physically a bit smaller, but when you compare their year-over-year progression - Muzzin has put up more points on average, but McCabe has blocked more shots, hits about the same for their 28/29 year old seasons, and McCabe has more Takeaways and fewer Giveaways.
Largely it's this: McCabe is a, and has been in a, defensively responsible position for most of his career. Muzzin did play with Doughty and did have offensive opportunities afforded to him (I think he was a faster skater in his mid-twenties). But in terms of how they approach the defensive shut-down role, it's not that dissimilar and Muzzin and McCabe both provide that at a top-4 level.
Don't believe my BS, here's what JFresh posted: https://twitter.com/JFres...30274547181076481?lang=en
He's not elite and there are absolutely better top-4 options out there, but he qualifies as top-4 on almost any team in the NHL regardless of their contender status or not. - Monkeypunk
Yeah every chart is a huge fan of McCabe. He went through a bad injury and was poor last season...but he was even better the season before that than this season.
He was also super underrated on Buffalo putting up elite D stats in lesser comp...which earned him the big contract.
He is a top 4 D for sure. He defends the rush better than anyone on the Leafs and we needed that. |

I think i accidentally flagged this.
My error.
It was discussed on sportsnet/tsn radio (lunch and afternoon shows) after the trade.
Again, it was "in a perfect world" scenario (which i know is rare) and i have no doubt he could (and has) comfortably played in top 4.
Just not completely sold on him in the top if we go deep, thats all.
Looks good so far, but we'll see in the playoffs.
I hope he turns out to be great and exactly what we were missing. |

I stupidly let my dirty laundry pile up in the laundry room.
Finally ran out of clean underwear in the dresser, so went down to the basement to grab a pair of running shorts with a built in liner to wear, and to (finally) throw a load of laundry in the washer.
Apparently Mrs. Wedgie became so frustrated by my mountain of dirty laundry, she washed it for me.
I've learned something from this experience, but it's not what my wife hoped I would learn. - Atomic Wedgie

I don't think enough has been made of the fact AM leads all forwards in blocked shots. That is amazing. - Zezel
I don't like that a 60 goal 100+ point guy who is injury prone doesn't have the puck enough to be blocking the most shots in the league as a forward. |

"He’s an important guy for us, but, as I’ve talked to him about … our team is deeper on defence now. The standard is higher in terms of staying in. He was in a similar situation last season."
Welp. Time to see if Keefe is a man of his word or not. Spoiler alert- I highly doubt it, but fully welcome being proven wrong. |

What was the old Gretzky quote about Oilers away games?
The gist of it was the home crowd wanted to see Gretzky score a hat trick, and the home team win 4-3. - Atomic Wedgie
Oh I want to see hattricks....but it's 3 of them as follows:
AM34
MM16
WN 88
And I also want no goals for anyone from Edmonton - a man can dream.

Obviously I think every Leaf fan does - so I've said before on our board that everyone here wants the Leafs to win - we just have different measures by what we think it will take. Muzzin, alone, didn't do it. Foligno, alone, didn't do it.
Maybe the addition of a Muzzin-like (although not quite as good) and a Foligno-like (although WAY better) along with contributory bottom-6 and bottom pairing depth will give us what we need.
If Boston weren't so loomingly scary this year, all of the Leafs' moves would seem more brilliant as opposed to potentially posturing - but no one is going to hand them the cup now - so . . . we go for it.

I won't lie when I started reading this and got to the bolded part I was sure the next thing I was going to read was "I then realized I could easily double the amount of time it takes to get to this point by simply turning my gitch inside out and so I now have a weeks worth of 'clean' underwear again - true Wedgie story".
I was very happy to not read that.

The playoffs are silly. Remember a few years ago when both last placed wild cards won?
I personally think TBs run is over. I look at their lineup and on paper they just arent scary anymore.
Yes they are TB and a good team...but I'd rather face them then Buffalo at this point. I'll take Ottawa or Florida though.
The big thing is staying healthy. Need the core 4 plus ROR and McCabe/Brodie pairing to be good to go game 1. |

I would prefer if it was just them hiring the guy who counted the hits for the Islanders in the past who gave each guy like 18 hits a game. |

I'm still cheering for Buffalo to make the playoffs, but they made it a lot harder on themselves last night by losing to the Islanders in regulation.
It's not looking great. |

They are hit or miss.
One of those teams that can go on a scary run though.
Or get the poop kicked out of them and be swept.
I think the Pens get their ass kicked. NYI maybe stand a chance?
Florida is garbage. |

Last night's game Buffalo @ Islanders game: 32-9 hits.
Equally as stupid: it was a 3-2 game, and all three stars were from the Islanders.
