The league will take care of that.
Hopefully it's an 18 game suspension and he never plays another game for the Flyers. - Feanor

Now that you off your soap box….was it really that bad? It was settled on the ice the way it should be. TDA said himself said he took 30 shots while on the ground. It’s nothing that Perry doesn’t do or hasn’t done his whole career. He tried seconds before to go after his hands so TDA lost his cool a bit and gave him a decent but not over the top chuck to the nads. That poop used to happen every game. In todays game he might get an extra game or two which might be good for the Flyers in their own end.

So you condone a professional athlete spearing another athlete in the nabs?? IMO DeAngelo deserved 50 shots to the head for that! |

It was a tough night for Risto. Not one of his better outings. - landros 2
Ok, so Carter Hart falls down behind his own net, the puck then goes out to the slot to a wide open Lightning player who shoots the puck into the net, and somehow to you that is Risto's fault? What in your opinion should Risto had done on that play exactly? Another goal resulted from York being beat by the puck carrier to the net and then a scramble to poke the puck in. Finally, the Lightning scored 3 PP goals. So its not Hart's fault? Its not York's fault? Its not Farabee's fault for the dumb penalties he took? Its all Risto's fault because he was on the ice. Get Freak'n Real! |

Do I condone it? He’s not my kid. He did it, it was penalized. Now he’ll get two games. It’s an emotional game and what I did like was it, for the most part, was handled on the ice. |

#1 overall would be amazing (doesn't fix everything, but sure helps a lot)
Top 2 would be incredible for the franchise.
Top 5-6 Something to build on, but going to take patience (which everyone has run out of)
Outside top 6....
More of the same, see you next year for groundhogs day. |

I don’t think that all the goals were Risto’s “fault”. I simply said it was not one of his better games. You don’t lose a game because of one guy. |

Wishful tbinking? Or real change? - Trox88
Reads like an Eklund post... everything based on "whispers" and "chatter". Surprised there wasn't a "stay tuned" and "more to come" at the end. Factual errors (Homer being named as a key meddler instead of Deano), too. |

I mean, I get it, Risto is not that great of a defenseman, and yes I would have liked to see him be stronger in front of his own net on at least 1 or two of those goals. However, there were several Flyers that had bad games. Risto was not benched for about half the game, Farabee and Sanheim were!
BTW, I am interested in what the Flyers do with Sanheim. I don't think he has a lot of trade value and with his new contract kicking in July 1st, I wonder how the Flyers can get rid of him. Its clear to me he is not going to survive Tort's "addition by subtraction" goal for this off-season. |

I like that the Lightning players jumped him and I also liked that the Flyers' players did not earnestly try to save him either. The refs made the right call also. I think the league should suspend him for at least 5 games given his history. I have no sympathy for DeAngelo in this case, he crossed the line in a big way and deserves all he gets as a result. Also I really can't root for a team that supports a player like that. One of the many reasons I hate the Burins so much; for their support of Marchand. |

There will be elite players coming out of the draft after #6 this year, but I have no faith that the Flyers will be one of the teams that identifies the good ones.
They probably already (frank)ed up taking Cutter over Jiricek. |

I was only sharing the observation that he was on the ice for all five.

Problem is Marchand produces. You take the good over the bad.
In an 82 game season you might, what, hear about Marchand doing something a handful of times. You can live with that.
If DeAngelo were the defensive equivalent of Marchand I'll deal with spearing a dude one time over the course of a season. |

I see, so if you produce teams and fans should tolerate one of the most un-sportsman-like acts any professional player can do? Spear someone in the nabs, spit, bite, lick .. its all good as long as the player produces? Sorry, I just don't agree. I don't want to support a team or a league that tolerates this type of behavior, period. |

It's better for their development if they stay on the Phantoms, according to Chuck and the gang.
Coincidentally, keeping soon to be 24 year olds like Attard and Lycksell in the minors also saves the Flyers some money when ticket sales are weak.

Because its not fair! Out of all the things you could have observed in the game, the only thing you observe is Risto was on the ice for all 5 goals against? You posted this observation deliberately to emphasize what a bad player Risto is, otherwise you would not have posted it. My only point here is before you throw rocks at Risto, just be sure he has earned it! |

He has earned it. He has been bad defensively his entire career.
Give the exclamation points a rest, buddy. |

It’s obvious, at least to me, that Tortorella plays favorites and he needs to be called out on it.
It looks like he's playing favorites to those who don' t know how to evaluate talent. An example is Cates. He is 1rst line center because of the following reasons:
- Doesn't take off nights or disappear for long stretches
- Is young and can keep pace to check the opposing teams' forwards in what is a young man's game today
- Is able to execute Torts' center ice checking strategy (active stick, seal passing lanes, cause turnovers, back checking = disruptive)
- For all of the above reasons is why Hayes is not first line center.
Cates does all those things, and now he is starting to chip in offense. It's called player development. Long term it is unlikely he would be the first line guy, nor would he be on a playoff team, but in the absence of an alternative, he is the best they've got.

Not at all, pick on Risto when he deserves it. Last night I think there many other Flyer players that deserved criticism, including Hart. We are stuck with Risto, and I don't like it any more than you do. Still, I would much rather see DeAngelo and Sanheim off the team before Risto. |
