Stefan Noesen - Paul Stastny - Derek Stepan

Jaccob Slavin - Brent Burns

So sad that Tony won't be on the ice to show Carolina what they are missing out on.

Feels like a foregone conclusion that Ghost scores a goal tonight.

Would've like to have seen how Pacioretty would've fit in with the Canes. He was really the perfect addition and a big time player when healthy. Would've made them better in my opinion. Its a shame.

OK... so Allison and Lemieux are banged up and unavailable at least for tonight. Hence, the emergency recalls of Desnoyers and Foerster.

Also, Sandström gets the start in goal.

I would have liked to have seen Martinook on the Flyers when Carolina waived him in October. Only two Flyers have more ES points than him this season.

Seems like it's been that kind of season for Felix. Seems like most of his starts have been on the back end of back to backs.

In his 3 games he got he was SO GOOD. The team has kept he and his family around (Teravainen brought Pacioretty's kids out on the ice for the family skate thing) and Dundon has said they're willing to sign him to an extension if he wants to try again next season.

It really is a shame because he provided that extra finishing ability they were craving.

The other offseason addition, Brent Burns, has turned out to be an absolute monster.

Pacioretty was a huge risk, and it proved to be a gamble lost

Yeah, after he was waived and cleared the first time, he was sent to the Phantoms for 12 games and then recalled again. Torts did not dress him at all but the Flyers did not send him down despite being waiver exempt. He finally dressed in the final game before the ASB because the Flyers lost two forwards to injury in the Minnesota game.

The Flyers still could have sent Bellows to the Phantoms without waivers for a few days during their long schedule hiatus, but elected instead to allow the waiver exemption clock to run out and kept him on NHL roster.

He was subsequently waived again.... and cleared again. He could have been paper moved to the Phantoms on Clear Day (last Friday) to be eligible for the Calder Cup playoffs but that didn't happen unless I missed the announcement.

So he's in a perpetual healthy scratch state until this summer when the Flyers will clearly not tender him an RFA qualifying offer and he'll be turned loose as a UFA.

I feel for Bellows here. He has AHL feet, unfortunately, but he can certainly help the Phantoms even if Torts determined quickly he wasn't going to be part of the NHL lineup. Not saying Torts was wrong in that assessment. But there seems to be a bit of tug-of-war here: Torts won't play him and the org won't send him down again.

I have no other explanation for why Bellows never went back to the Phantoms despite dressing only as a last resort.

Sadly, Ryan Ellis was really good in the one week (opening week of the 2021-22 season, three games) he played for the Flyers last season before his one-game return in Dallas in Nov 2021 and then permanent return to IR/LTIR.

Clearly, despite all the public handholding, Chuck and Torts are mired in a bit of a power struggle. Wouldn't be surprised if they each had their own factions in the front office/alumni backing them.

I still can't believe Chuck did that.

And of course now we have Ghost too. Canes have gone 7 for 12 on the powerplay since Gostisbehere joined.

No it wasn't a huge risk at all. They gave up future considerations to acquire him. Then able to put him on LTIR to get cap space. That's a move that was a no brainer for Carolina.

It's rough. You never really know how it's going to go until you get into game action and after almost three full games to have it reinjure itself on a nothing play at the end of the night is just heartbreaking for the guy.
