It's funny how Waddell was complete (frank) up in Atlanta but the minute he started working with Tulsky the guy suddenly can't get a thing wrong.
Tulsky helped build out their hockey depts and robust player evaluation tools. Also helped on a lot of non-hockey fronts too. He's doing all the heavy lifting there. - Tomahawk
It would be nice to see them go out and hire some one with no real affiliation with the club. |

I guess Flahr is ok, not really his fault Fletcher never gave him second round picks. I just want every bit of Fletcher's stench gone. - TobyFlenderson
I don’t know what other roles he had or how much influence he had on Fletcher….if it’s more then just handling the drafts, then he may be toast as well. |

Bill .. Frost has 30 points and is a -15 in 63 games ... what are you defending here? The bottom line is this ... if Frost is in your top 6, your team is a very bad team! - jd250
Tippett has 34 points in 60 games and is -15, and yet you never say anything bad about him. |

Some guys are better in the role they have is all. When they can focus on their strengths. Also Waddell maybe learned from his mistakes the 1dt time around.
Not against it in any way. Would be 100% on board.

Yeah, I'm with you there. That guy Hanrahan who was introduced as the 'capologist' at the STH town hall should be canned. If he's your capologist he should've been fired before Fletcher |

As far as Tulsky is concerned, could you see the org ever being brave enough to turn the team over to a young guy with a chemistry and nanotech background lol? In this town? With these fans? No way. |

Depends…maybe Danny would make a great GM….can’t just can him because they wanted Fletcher to mentor him…although this team may be in need of a guy with a bit more experience and pedigree. - landros 2 You can can him. To me it all needs to drained. Briere seems like a Torts lackey.
Advisors, scouts, development team, minor league staff and the like. All gone. They need new voices, new faces, a new direction.

Giroux is on track to break 1,000 points this season. Shame the former GM used the cap space that could have brought him back to Philly on Ristolainen. |

It really does, fits the mold the front office advisors look for in their GMs. Mediocre career (outside of the one stanley cup), Flyers connection. I will be sick if he's hired. Fitzgerald cleaned up his mess nicely in NJ. |

Same scouting staff in place. - MJL
Can they fire them all now? Don’t they have to keep the amateur scouts on at least until the draft? |

So who gets hired as President of Hockey Operations will speak volumes on where the organization goes. With Briere named as interim, there is still hope of real organizational change. This is the first step that had to happen with Comcast unwilling to sale. So far, so good. - Trox88

My issues aren't with the scouting staff, but those making the day-to-day personnel decisions. - Sublime55
You referenced having to start over for the draft. They don't. They haven't likely even started having those meetings yet on the draft with the scouting staff and Flahr who runs the scouting staff. |

As far as Tulsky, no issue going in a differetn direciton at all.
What has he shown that he would make a competent GM? More to being a GM than analytics.
My preference would be Darche. Somehow get him involved in the organization. Funny thing is he is great friends with Briere. They talk all the time. - furio16
He's not just an analytics guy. He's been the Assistant General Manager in Raleigh for a couple years now and, prior to that, was the "VP of Strategy."
Virtually nothing happens in the Canes organization that doesn't come to him first. Don Waddell and Tom Dundon come up with the ideas and how to implement them, then they bring said ideas to Tulsky, Yorke and Brind'amour to decide if they're actually good/feasible.
Tulsky has talked a lot about understanding the numbers aren't and can't be the primary driver behind every decision you make. There has to be context for everything. WHY the numbers look the way they do is more important than what the numbers say. He's had influence over how the team itself plays, not just who is on the ice.
Strategy for team building has been either smack the easy single in front of you or swing for the fences. Nothing in the middle. Nothing clever. Those are the places you make mistakes that are killers. |
