Will the new GM have the authority to fire the coaching staff?
- furio16

I came here to ask just this.

Is Torts safe?

Barber has clearly been running the show as puppet master. All they did was replace the puppet.
- hereticpride

"If" Barber is one of the guys retiriring like SanFIllipo is reporting. Does that change your opinion? He has not given out names as of yet- the retirees.

fans were planning a rally to fire Fletcher, at the next home game. I guess they wanted him out before that?
- Dkos

There’s a sell the team protest happening tomorrow at Xfinity and it’s still happening. Comcast may have pushed up the firing for slightly better optics lol

I think so ... I think more than anyone else he is responsible for Fletcher getting fired and Scott's mindset shift from aggressive retool to true rebuild.

If Barber and Kjell aren’t out this franchise is headed nowhere.

As MJL was saying the real interim GM is Torts.
- Tomahawk

The question still stands. Wouldn't expect an interim GM to make that decision.

If it ends up being Briere than clearly that will be very unlikely that Torts is gone.

The most exciting day in Flyers land since Hextall was fired.
- PLindbergh31

I was actually shocked by Hextall’s firing. He created a lot of impossible cap space and got us much younger. He’s had some major misses but not enough to warrant a firing in my opinion. His vision was taking too long though.

It is eating Torts alive losing and getting badly outplayed night after night.

Do not buy his rebuild talk at all. Lets see what transpires in the next 4 months.

I do not think they have a lot of cards to play over the next two years. Will probably have to wait out a few of those terrible contracts.

Yup. Briere or whoever is running things will have their hands tied up pretty well. Thanks Fletch!

I am not sure. They may think all these (sometimes) meaningless benchings. Has no mean to an end. His archaic methods, alltime horrible PP on every team he has coached. Skipping pressers and huge fines.

When the clowns run the circus, there's no telling what will happen. Perhaps they will. And why not? They can have 3 former head coaches that they're still paying.

I think Torts at least makes it through next year. This team has at least competed this year with having basically zero talent on the roster.

Just like Fletcher did with the Wild. But Guerin seems to be doing a decent job digging out of that hole that Fletcher created. Can Briere do the same? Time will tell.

Curtains and drapes gotta match the uniform... for branding.

Any hiring of a guy like Tulsky has to include a complete buy in across the board. Which means a lot of other things have to change also. Many others would need to be removed also. Including the coach eventually. Tulsky and Tortorella would be like water and oil.

Bill at the time also alluded to the rumors that Hextall had angered the Flyers Alumni with a lot of his decisions in relation to them and that had played a role in his firing.

Omfg. Sweet Jesus. Just seeing this great news! There is a god and he’s answered my prayers. I hope that we now proceed with bringing in someone from outside the org who is able to build a team in the new mould. I’d look for an agm from a team that has proven draft success etc.
