Yeah, after he was waived and cleared the first time, he was sent to the Phantoms for 12 games and then recalled again. Torts did not dress him at all but the Flyers did not send him down despite being waiver exempt. He finally dressed in the final game before the ASB because the Flyers lost two forwards to injury in the Minnesota game.
The Flyers still could have sent Bellows to the Phantoms without waivers for a few days during their long schedule hiatus, but elected instead to allow the waiver exemption clock to run out and kept him on NHL roster.
He was subsequently waived again.... and cleared again. He could have been paper moved to the Phantoms on Clear Day (last Friday) to be eligible for the Calder Cup playoffs but that didn't happen unless I missed the announcement.
So he's in a perpetual healthy scratch state until this summer when the Flyers will clearly not tender him an RFA qualifying offer and he'll be turned loose as a UFA.
I feel for Bellows here. He has AHL feet, unfortunately, but he can certainly help the Phantoms even if Torts determined quickly he wasn't going to be part of the NHL lineup. Not saying Torts was wrong in that assessment. But there seems to be a bit of tug-of-war here: Torts won't play him and the org won't send him down again.
I have no other explanation for why Bellows never went back to the Phantoms despite dressing only as a last resort. - bmeltzer
Put this on the long list of reasons why the FO of the organization is a complete poop show. Is anyone in charge over there? Anyone?

Here is my off season move. Flyers trade a 2nd round pick for the rights to Gostisbehere to Carolina. Sign him to a 5 year deal. The gift that keeps on giving for Carolina. |

1 goal, 2 assists for 3!

I have no issue taking a chance with a player but play him. Either on the Flyers or the Phantoms once he is eligible to be sent down. It's awful to just put a stop to a kids career with nothing to gain from it. - MJL
Totally agree. Nothing to lose by playing the kid, even if it's with the Phantoms.

You could have saved yourself some time and just said the organization is incompetent. - BiggE
He has to write well and use bigger words so the morons who sign his paycheck won’t know he is crapping on the team because they are stupid. |

EDM at BOS at 7:30 on Hulu. I have a feeling I'll be switching to that game rather quickly into the Flyers game. Just a hunch...... |

Can Seeler and Sanheim switch contracts? Honestly I would rather see Seeler for the next 8 years, plus paying Sanheim $750K is just about what he is worth! |
