This is why even if Levi doesn't sign I don't think it changes anything. Unless they get a defender to drop into their lap that they think is the BPA I expect them to go forward with their 1st. They could still be drafting in the top 10 depending how the season ends, so it's all up in the air. |

The Indianapolis Colts are trading five-time Pro Bowl cornerback Stephon Gilmore to the Dallas Cowboys, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday. |

Canadian measurements make no sense. Wtf is a kilometer? I'm not trying to weigh cocaine, I just want to know how fast I'm going. |

Do the Sabres not play defense because they can’t, or is it a coaching deficiency? I genuinely like Granato but I have seen no evidence of improvement in the defensive play this year. He can whisper his way to all the offense he wants, but if he can’t do the same with defense what exactly are we doing here? |

They need an experienced top-4 d but what else is new?
I listened to Donnie on the radio today and he made a good point: the Sabres d group has less than 1000 games played collectively while a lot of teams have 2000-3000 games.
I think the problem is more that Joker is not a top 4 d and when they lose Samuelsson then they often look totally lost, but Granato has a point |

What worries me though are not the bone-headed mistakes, but the way this team repeatedly and willingly cedes the blue line and then turtles as a unit. That seems like coaching to me. |

Id prefer them to stop pinching all the damn time. The first two Toronto goals were off odd man rushes where first Dahlin pinched the blue line and had 3 Leaf players behind him, and the second one Bryson was down by the hash marks.
I get wanting your d to be active in the o-zone, but lets teach when and not all the time.

i think the coaching has been more focused on the transition game which leaves the D zone in trouble
hopefully the next step is building the d zone play on top of that. theoretically it should be easier to focus on offense first then fix up the defense, rather than the other way around

That's a funny way to state it, if you think they are simply going BPA. The top 3 D in the draft are all projected in the area where they'll likely pick.
I think there are limits to BPA, and they've drafted so many F's that they need a correction. Doesn't mean it has to be a 1st, but I expect a bigger focus on D. They way things look today, D in the 1st lines up.

That's on Donnie i assume.
Isn't the entire offense basically "just go for it"? |

Think they played sound D against the Rangers and Toronto. Think they only allowed 9 High Danger Shots the whole game and only 17 ro Toronto. Helps when your forwards come back. |

I mean at our end of the ice. I’d like to start seeing the defense challenge zone entries and separate the player from the puck once in awhile. Instead they just skate backward and collapse into a box.

They're never going to be a 1-3-1 trap team - which is fine by me - but I think Stillman, for all his flaws, brings a little more of what you're asking for. He's kind of the prototype for "standing your man up at the blueline."
Granato is coaching a team in progress. He needs a couple more pieces on the backend and then I think this will be a formidable unit. I'd settle for a RHD version of Jake McCabe |

Exactly.
Imagine two of him (but actually good) replacing Joker and Bryson. They would have something |

What's his game like? Puck mover? Stay at home? Not familiar with his game. |
