It’s hard to read what KA will do this summer
Granato on GR yesterday talked about how they are an offensive team and scoring is what they focus on and that they value scoring the first goal in every game they play.
So they might want to make sure they have a ton of depth at forward and as much offense as possible.
They also might value his draft picks sooner than I expect and he’s moved. Just hard to tell - sbroads24
One thing we know, trading for D is not easy. |

How could you say kyvynv is a can kicker in regards to contracts?
Exact opposite in regards to samuelsson, tage and cozens.
The guy is making some really good decisions. IMO

I think he should want a better opportunity and could find that somewhere else. Not an indictment on him at all. - Lunaion
Ok appreciate the clarity.
Would you agree that donnie's system may lead to Inflated goal/point totals?
System has jost looking good, I'd 50/50 on him resigning.
I think you mentioned something about a 3 million qualifier? |

I’d much rather resign Singletary then sign Zeke, trade for Dalvin or draft Robinson.
They need to let Cook be the #1 and get him involved in the pass game - sbroads24
That fumble on his first carry really (frank)ed him. I feel like he'd be much further along if they didn't basically sit him for three games after that.
Edit: He actually had 11 carries in week 2, but then took another 5 games to get 11 more carries. |

The thing is the Sabres haven’t viewed him as a “depth player” this season. - sbroads24
Where he is right now is exactly the role he should be in.
3rd line LW then can play top 6 in a pinch.
There is absolutely value in having a guy that can do that, and he should be here next year doing the same thing.
All I’m saying is, he shouldn’t be untouchable either if an Ehlers or a top 4 d-man comes available.
Also, and you have said it yourself, you start getting in trouble if you overpay the Casey Mittelstadt’s of the world.
Might be a good time to sell high too |

Gust28 has 9 goals 6 assists.
Could be a 10/20 point season.
Guy blocks shots, wears an 'A' , has some intangibles.
Plays 4th line minutes with a new center and okposo.
2.2 million isnt pissing money away. You're teasing... |

We're talking decisions on RFA's coming off bridge deals. Extending Tage wasn't a difficult decision. Attempting to extend Dahlin isn't either. Mitts and Joker are much different.

Or sometime in June. There's no rush. If teams aren't signing him by now, they're not lining up for him.

Oh yeah, I do remember that now. Hopefully it's not some stupid "rookie needs to 'earn' it" thing like they did with Allen, going into the season with that bird looking mother(frank)er when everyone knew it should've been Allen |

I think we’re all in agreement here.
I personally would rather move picks though.
I sincerely do not care if we have a single draft pick the next couple years. Especially if you’re a believer in Kulich/Savoie/Ostlund/Rosen.
Land a top 4 D and sign Johnson and you can basically sign a Lyubushkin type every offseason |

Missed icing and then the goalie covers it and no whistle.
What are the refs doing there? |

Cook wasn’t too good early on besides the fumble. Made horrible decisions that killed drives. He got better, but don’t know how many carries he can handle. I’d prefer they just pass every down. Get back to getting the backup QB some PT in the 3rd qtr. |

It’s not icing if it goes on goal/goalie plays the puck. Goalie should’ve actually held on to the puck until the whistle. |

Samuelsson's deal good or bad, wasn't sitting around waiting for it to fall in KA's lap.
Cozens deal and tage were super progressive. Gonna save millions on the 2 most important positions in the franchise.
Early on, as a rookie gm, KA had a different reputation, I'll give you that.
He's definitely petaled to the metaled lately. Dahlin is gonna be next. |

This potential top 10 probably has some real value too.
The mceichel draft was 10 deep with rantanen.
This draft has been compared to the 2015 draft.
I'm hoping they move the pick for someone like provorov (strictly hockey take ) . |

Nothing remotely progressive about the Tage or Cozens deal. Bridge then extend. Sign a #7 pick to a long term deal off his ELC. These are normal things.
Samuelsson was outside the box. No issue with the deal, might look good in a few years, might not.
Joker and Mitts are different. Can make a decision and get ahead of things early this summer, or wait. The decision isn't obvious on them.
36 keeps saying it: decision time is coming. They can't keep everyone and a point might come where they can't pay everyone.

If one or both are moved this offseason I think they did a very good job of showcasing and making them valuable pieces. Because based on playing time for both and how Granato talks, you’d think they’re guys they view as part of the plan.
Personally I want them to either move Samuelsson down to 3rd LD and get a top RD for Dahlin, or move Joker and get Power a partner.
The Power/Joker pair is something that could definitely be upgraded, but it also doesn’t hurt them. |

I see what you're saying 👍
I'm comparing KA and company to past Sabres GMs.
I think KA is just playing a slow game. He's still very new at the job. Of course he doesn't get excited and jump, that's not his nature. Good or bad.
Getting these 3 guys signed cheaply
Acquiring krebs, tuch, 1st for a busted eichel
These are huge positives
He's had some misses, but they are small so far.
KA missed on greenway, I think he kinda knew and wanted to let everyone know it was donnie.
I think something outside of hockey could be dragging him down? He earned the extended contract, at the time in Minnesota. I liked his game a few years ago. |
