Lots of positives from this three game set with Tampa despite only coming out 1-2. Really limited the number of chances they had in all of the games and drove play pretty hard. Vasilevsky is a hell of a goalie so he steals a lot of games himself.

For sure. We were the better team in all 3 games. Game 1 was a pure goaltending difference, game 2 went to an irrelevant skills competition, which doesnt exist in the playoffs, and they flat out dominated tonight after the 1st period. I'm all about process>results the remainder of the regular season here. The division is likely over, and we're playing the Rangers in round 1. I couldn't care less about home ice either.

The Florida game was an total clunker from everybody not named Akira Schmid, so outside of that just keep playing well and make sure the process is up to expectation going into the playoffs. Get Bratter and Jack going here to end the season and then we just gotta hope the goaltending holds up and doesn't cost us games when it matters most.

Not really, They play the Rags the next two games,who have been playing pretty good, and if Devils take care of business we will be right there.

I honestly feel we would beat them 4 games to 2….and we will likely get goalied in 1 of those games. They can’t match our speed and their defense is soft.

Agreed. Their goaltending and PP can be the difference maker in a series, but if we stay out the box we should be fine. We should be able to walk all over them at 5v5. We're just a better team top to bottom throughout the lineup outside of in net.

That's how I feel. If they get good goaltending and we get bad that's the series right there.

I’m not really sure why everyone is so surprised goaltending is a weakness. I like VV to be honest, but he was far from a sure thing. I saw him appropriately labeled a breakout candidate, but he wasn’t a Vezina winner by any means. Akira was a total gamble and Blackwood was inconsistent and frequently hurt. I think everyone saw it as a weakness.
It’s not a position of confidence, but I’m going to be optimistic because i think if the team plays decent team defense in front of whomever is playing they have a chance. Unless the offense dries up they’ll be able to compete. Would be nice to see one of the goalies get hot before the playoffs, but if not i don’t think there’s any question they’ll pivot to someone else if one starts to slip. Even in the playoffs. And that’s fine. It’s not ideal, but i’d rather that than they stubbornly stay with someone who isn’t getting it done. If this team is clicking they can win in spite of their questionable goaltending. If the goalies start clicking again…well, watch out!

-Smith missed morning skate for personal reasons.

-Lazar will miss "some time" with a lower body injury. No timetable as of now.

We got goalied this game for sure, but what was with the trash officiating here. We had a ton of plays where we stepped around Wild players and they clearly hooked us. Refs just randomly not calling penalties for reasons. Whatever.
