JFC our PowerPlay sucks - AusHawk
A good power play requires talent, not a bunch of plugs who put out 110% effort every night. |

This is true, but surely there could at least be a basic structure to it still. After all, there are still 5 plugs out there vs 4 coyotes.

You need guys that see the ice, can possess the puck, have a high hockey IQ, and a finisher or two. The Hawks have very few of them in their entire system. But maybe the next few drafts will produce a few. |

Simplify. Pucks low to high, people to the net, find a lane and fire. ......
The Kaiser kid looks poised. Liked the play he's on the O side in the neutral zone, puck squirts away from a Yote, he reads, bites, picks it up, looks cross ice just outside the blueline, nothin, dumps and gets off.

I appreciate the fact that we have lost a whole lot of skill and talent over the last few seasons, this season in particular, and hopefully the draft and offseason will have an upward trend. But that doesn't change the fact that its still 5v4, and we can barely gain a zone entry let alone have a sustained period in the O zone while on the PP.
The lower two lines have shown that there is a way to get and hold the puck in deep (and score as well), so it boggles me that they can't do it while on the man advantage, skilled or not.

This. Simple plays for simple players. |

Just consider it a win if we don't allow a short handed goal, it's what i do. |

This works too. Maybe I will try this |

Kaiser getting forechecked by two Coyotes and just calmly gets the puck out of the corner. Are you watching Caleb? |

Anxious to see Kaiser and better performance from Mitchell. - jhawk59
Kaiser players bigger than his 175 lbs. plus and looks very comfortable giving the body, holding the middle, a real nice quick burst, and nice poise and seems like his start is quite better than Ian Mitchell's |

About time Stalock pays for being below the endline, out for open skates, 14ft above his paint, playing with "flair". Maybe this will be the start of things evening out. Hopefully. |

Don't know Wiz, so far I could not be happier what I see from the kid. The game looks slow to Kaiser, he's unfazed, head is up, not rushed, decisive in all 3 zones, engages in the slot getting in on the opponents body, hands and feet work together.
I was just wondering if he'll play next game vs COL and against some top notch skill or will LR decide not to risk the obvious confidence he's showing?........ Tiny sample size but I'm really pumped. Kid is only 20 yrs old with a July birthday.

Sopposedly Kaiser has put on 10 pounds of muscle to the 175 pounds

You know that weight posted at Elite Prospects is probably from his draft yr. As Wiz said he's playing heavier than his weight and add he uses leverage really well in the slot, along the walls and defending a wide rush he indeed plays much stronger than probably even 185lbs.
Kid is not thinking, just playing using his coaching, fundamentals and IQ. ...... Very nice showing from a 20 yr old in his first NHL game.

Thank you, Hockey Gods. ....... My next question is does LR play Kaiser vs a COL squad fighting for playoff positioning. |

I know they need to get to the cap floor, but there has to be better $3 mil players than AA.
Won’t miss Khaira either. |

You know LA, one of the advantages of playing NCAA is you play 35ish games as opposed to Major Junior where you play 75 games. Gives a kid much much more time in the weight/film rooms and many more practices.
It's a real advantage for some players especially smaller/leaner kids. Generally speaking you get an NCAA kid that is more fundamentally sound, stronger and mature but maybe less game skill than a kid that took the Major Junior path.
No hard and fast right or wrong as each path has it's advantages but I do like the NCAA path.

That was a bad game played in a Mullet of a arena against a bunch of desert dogs!! .At least the result was palatable . I am coming to the realization that we are not going to be last in the league I jus hope now for a top 3 pick . |

True, and Kaiser has been the #1 defenseman for a top program since being a freshman. Was worried about when he needed knee surgery, but doesn’t seem to have any ill effects. |
