I hearya & agree. On 7yrs for JTM I believe it was to keep the AAV lower so hence the longer term. It’s the way it is these days & not always fan friendly lol

I guess it’ll come down to how the team is built & success in those next 4-5yrs that will be judged. Til then we’ve no choice cuz no rebuild & can only hope Mgmt has a plan that will succeed. That is us being a fan watchin n waiting 🤪

I still think the third most fun time for fan is TDL. NHL has got to make it more achievable.

Something crazy like the first five years is protected on the contract and any additional years does not go against the cap in a buyout. Players get their money, Fans get their wish and owners get screwed for being dumb. Win/ win/ win.

On Bo as a captain he was workman like & improved himself. He scored fine & won FO’s at a good clip.

That said he didn’t do enough else to say much more good about him leading the team. Drafted & joined the team in the years of sliding downhill. He had the opportunity to play & grow then he hit his ceiling. A solid 2C but not good enough to take the team to a higher level. That’s not all on him but as a captain more was needed & expected. 8/8.5m isn’t value imo

Far too much for Bo. They needed him the (frank) out of the locker room. No surprise Pouty, Hughes and Miller are playing their best hockey and are improving their leadership. He had to go regardless of his contract
