I don’t know what you are talking about. You just made the comparison of vegans being forced to eat meat to a NHL player being asked to wear a colourful jersey that supports inclusion. That was dumb.
I was just commenting on your silly take. The whole jersey thing is a marketing stunt to show the NHL is “woke”. The fact that it is backfiring on the NHL is just another incident that shows the NHL as a second rate league. They can’t even do feign social acceptance correctly. - bloatedmosquito
You really didn't figure out that the comparison was being forced to do something you don't personally believe in?
It's not a marketing stunt, it's about showing acceptance/inclusion to all that want to play sport. The way they have went about it, hasn't been spectacular. |

Why didn't you answer it in the first place then?
I have a problem forcing someone to wear the jersey's. Pride night is about inclusion, acceptance.
I mean if you were a vegan and went to a friends house for dinner and they said no you have to eat meat you are at my house is that okay? - manvanfan

Feeling damn good about my earlier proclamation WRT Bains' upside!
Counting stats, wall work, passing, shot, and work rate are all there. In one season, kid has gone from sheltered 4th line to 2nd line toughs, power play, AND PKl, kid has done A LOT in his rookie season #canucks

Having a pretty good rookie year in the AHL. Scored lone goal for Abby last night. |

There’s no force being applied. Some players and some teams are CHOOSING not to participate. It’s a very bad look, but that is their CHOICE.
See the difference?
But I agree on the less than spectacular look. The NHL should have talked to their partners first and got a feel for the situation. There are other opportunities to show their support of inclusion like pink shirt day. But that doesn’t have the same marketing potential that Pride does. |

Gulyayev is a really strong mover. A lot of quickness and lateral agility and that's what drives his offensive potential. Needs a lot of refinement yet.
But he's a wild card for where he will go. Could go around 15. Could go in the late-2nd.
If Canucks could get back into the 2nd round. Another QH type |

In other hockey related news, former Bluewater Hawks goalie Mikayla Demaiter had to retire due to a devastating knee injury. Hopefully she will be able to find work outside of hockey…

Did you think the vegan's would eat the meat. No, why would they. I didn't think the point would have to be written in text for you to understand, to relate it to the NHL and the players saying no to wearing the jersey's.
I didn't think I needed to point out the common sense part.
Moving on, as I said before I think or thought it; why not have jersey's for half the team that say "hockey is for everyone" on the front or back and others were pride colours if they choose too. No doubt somebody would look into every player that wears what jersey though. |

He will probably make the team next year. Finally they are starting develop cheap bottom 6 players - CanuckDon
I'd think he would benefit from having another year in the Ahl playing all situations in a regular top 6 role. |

It’s not just about inclusion though. It’s about Pride for profit. Many large corporations are guilty of it. Slap a Pride symbol on a bottle of shampoo and it sells, then you hear about the same company promoting a culture of misogyny and bullying within the organization.
The NHL is no different. They have an image problem. They want to change that perception so they promote this “Pride night” to show they are hip to being culturally woke. Horsepoop and it backfired on them. If anything, it makes them look even worse and I think it’s hilarious. |

So true. I’d be more concerned if they tried to eliminate Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

I surely couldn't argue that companies see $$ and will take advantage of it.
It is good for the NHL's image to show support. Unfortunately, as my wife and I were just discussing how sometimes it's not received as intended. An issue that should not be ignored because it doesn't go off perfectly. I have heard that other activities that happen around the arena have been well received. |
