$2.1MM? What? - CanuckDon
https://www.capfriendly.com/players/akito-hirose
He is listed at signing 2.1 mil for this season.
I am asking does he need to be qualified at the same next year. I think the ruling is you have to match the average of the last contract for the QO for RFAs?
I am not sure that is why I asked? |

i think 2.1 may be prorated or something cause his qualifying offer is much lower

That is what I am not sure of. Does the QO have to be the average of the contract or actual money paid.

Oh I see, yea a $2.1MM cap hit. I suspect his QO is 10% raise on his actually salary not the cap hit. Has to be. Too lazy to look |

I think he was everyone’s guy simply due to his size and being a right shot. Interestingly, Canucks preferred Hirose |

I don't know anything about any of them. I gave up on NCAA after Gaudette

Either do I. Watching highlights, Hirose is very smart defensively and slippery in the O zone. Kind of looks a bit like Hughes. But he is playing against scrubs.
I think the more interesting prospect to follow is Filip Johanssen. Apparently some in the organization believe he will play in the NHL immediately. His trajectory the last couple of seasons has been impressive |

I see they gave him a contract of 2.1 mil. There is only 10 games left so not a big deal this year but he is a RFA and would that mean he has to be qualified at 2.1 next year for his next contract? That is steep for a player who never played a NHL game. - VANTEL
ELC can't go above 950k? Performance bonus's can put an ELC for 2.1m but that has nothing to do with QO and I doubt he hits them with 10 games left. |

I would have assembled that D for a roster to get Beddard. Seriously, sorry to insult your post but that is a terrible line up.
You have two very nice pieces with Hronek and Hughes. Fix the rest. - VANTEL

It is the money that matters. It cost FA 17 mil in the last decade.
He might be back. He might be on LTIR. My point is if they bring back OEL of last year and have Bear playing with Hughes then I will nominate this management as the dumbest in Canucks history. They can go from hero to zero with the moves in the summer.
I am trusting some big ball moves are made this summer. - VANTEL
Big moves have to be coming cannot see it any other way or as you say hero to zero fast. |

Again you are saying bat sh!t crazy stuff over and over again. Doesn’t make any of it true. OEL is not up to management it’s up to ownership. Bear is a legit NHL dman. - CanuckDon
He’ll be back & see if can reinvent himself especially if 3rd pair with Gavrikov signed. Don’t see an OEL buyout soon FA won’t say yes. Earliest is 2024/25 & then it’s a maybe. |

Keep in mind that at the beginning of the season our management "liked this D with Poolman healthy".
