7m savings year 1 then 2.4m then 2 years of 4.8m ends with 4 years 2.2m. - Nighthawk
It's just not worth it. If we replace him with a 4.5 guy the that's a 7 mill guy. 2 years of 9 mill. Either move a 1st with him to get rid of him (which won't happen with his 10.5 mill real money hit coming) or keep him for 4 years.
Vantel it's easy to say if they want to win buy him out but realistically replace him with 4.5 and you're essentially at his cap hit. Just keep him or send him to the minors hope he retires or goes ltir. I bet he can play 5 6 |

Think I seen this part before.
As much as people don't want to admit it and make excuses for what has happened this year. We have seen this same crap before. Same stink different faces.
I will say it again, pick a direction, be either very good or very bad. The middle sucks. - VANTEL
Again, they have picked a direction but your early disdain for them won’t let you admit it. They’re not rebuilding, they’re gonna be as competitive as they can and continue to change things until they get it right. Remains to be seen if they ever do.
You know, as things have unfolded throughout the year I can see a clearer picture now. The Miller contract makes more sense now, he’s a different player under Tocchet, future remains to be judged, the firing of Boudreau makes more sense now, they’re defending much better now, future remains to be seen. The Horvat trade and subsequent trade for Hronek makes more sense now that they are clearly wanting to be as competitive as they can. Next season is a hugely important one for the organization and management group. |

Those trades are not even in the same galaxy. One team was competing for a Stanley Cup, which matters whether anyone says so or not, the other finished 8th last and lost an opportunity to draft a great prospect. - LeftCoaster
You are right three first round players for Ballard was horrible. Didn't Michael Grabner score 34 goals and 27 goals? Bernier made it to the cup finals while Ballard did Ballard things?

You are missing the point. Why did you need to trade for Hronek at all? I think he is decent but not worth two top 40 picks and more cap. I think you could have found a decent Dman in free agency.
Again Habs picked up Malloux who will be a good NHL player at 31. Why can Canucks not pick up a good Dman in the top 18 with the Islanders pick. - VANTEL
We didn't need to trade for Hronek. It was dumb.
The point is this owner won't rebuild and they made the deal. It's the way the team is run so we might as well start thinking ok it's always win now and how do we do it. I disagree with it but that's the way it is. |

I am going to tell you put down the pom poms and pick a direction also. Miller had 99 points last year and 30 something goals but yeah Tochett changed him.
I don't have disdain for this new group if you would actually read what I am saying and stop looking for a chance to flap your gums you might understand what I am saying.
I am okay if they want to go all in. If that is the direction then you don't bring back OEL who the Canucks have a better winning percentage without. You don't waste top line money on players to play bottom pairing like Myers and OEL. you fix it. You don't take a canoe out on the water with holes in it and hope to make it across the lake.
It is not a smart move to take a team sitting in bottom seven in a strong draft to try and improve to 14 and give up draft picks and more cap.
If they build on what they started and fix the holes then I support them. If they are only going to fix half the problems then in my mind they are already losers.

this is why no one can take you serious because your takes are ridiculous. Ballard made it to the Cup finals his first year with the Canucks in 2011 lol! It’s a common practise for teams who deem themselves a contender to trade a first round pick and or young prospects or players to fill a need. It ended up being a fail, yes.
Look at the Giroux trade Florida made last year on their way to the coveted President’s Trophy, Owen Tippett is playing wonderfully for the Flyers and they have Florida’s 2024 first round pick. The Panthers lost in the first round. |

On finding a decent UFA RHD whom?
Not much to pick from…
Severson
Gudas
Soucy a lefty who plays both sides.
That must’ve been been factored in & really only Severson is probably top 4 & won’t be cheap. He’s offensive & imo not as well rounded as Hronek. That is only my opinion but RHD are not cheap let alone on the market often. Klingberg I ignored. |

They’re not going “all in”, they’re going to fill holes when the opportunity presents itself so they can be as competitive as they can. This appears to be a hard concept for you to accept. |

On Miller he’s on a 84 pt pace after a slower start. So heating up of late & really not that far off last seasons 99pts given the early season debacle. |

Don said yesterday Gavrovsky is a top 4
People on here said Bear is top 4
Gudas is bottom 2
I am saying getting Hronek is fine if you fix the rest of the D
Getting Hronek and not fixing the rest of the D is dumb.

They are fixing holes by using draft picks. That history works well - VANTEL
Nobody is really disagreeing with you just saying that’s not what the retool is all about.
They were never rebuilding & never said draft/develop & build up towards to contention.
They simply are changing gears after saying ‘major surgery’ was in order. More moves are to come & we’ll watch & wait for it to unfold. |

There never was going to be a fix it all scenario. Dumping cap & adding UFA’s & trading & drafting was NEVER going to be happening all at once. Takes time. |

I know what a retool is .
They were never rebuilding? Maybe I misunderstood Rutherford's press conference about we need to rebuild. Silly me.
Major surgery is not bringing back OEL. That is called repeating same mistakes.

I believe Gavrikov is top 4 Dhali lol
Bear top 4 if legit have a top 3.
Better in 3rd pair for great depth.
Gudas ideally bottom pair yes.
Hronek is just the 1st part of fixing the D. Good start but doesn’t end there. |
