The Flyers will do the most flyer thing ever this draft and pick a dman with size.

Hockey karma would be for Chicago to turn into the Buffalo Sabres and miss the playoffs for 12 straight years despite years and years of top end picks.

Basically the Flyers won last night with goaltending. There were ebbs and flows to the game, but Hart played well while Lyon played like the AHL tender that he is. Is Hayes still playing in these games? That slug needs to go! Good to see some of these young guys excelling. Perhaps the rebuild won't take as long as some folks think if things are done right from here on out.

12 games left

Laughton 4 goals from 20.

Hayes 3 goals from 20.

Konency is pretty much dead and I expect him to reach 30 goals this season before Hayes gets 20.

It’s not like we wouldn’t destroy Bedard by forcing him to dump and chase and grind anyway. How much of our player development and prospect evaluation staffs have been fired?

The only thing that’s changed in the entire organization is one person was fired. He was absolutely the biggest problem, but was FAR from the only problem.

For making moves that give them better odds of acquiring better talented players and more chances at finding players later in the draft while clearing out cap space for the future?

Karma is basically defined as short term sacrifice being rewarded by long term gain which is exactly what Chicago is doing.

By contrast, what the Flyers have been doing since after the Carter and Richards trades is Insanity. Doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results.

The young core should get better, if you figure 25-27 is the prime for a forward, where they are the player pretty much fully developed and only experience will move them forward, small steps. If this happens, this young group will be to good to tank, to good to finish bottom 3, hell to good now to finish bottom 3. This is all without Coots, TK etc. They would have to sell everyone to really tank out.

Coots, in my opinion he really hit his best days when he finally learned how to use his body to protect the puck, he slowed the game down, for that reason and if he is healthy, I think he comes back into form. Coots will have good choices for wingers, even if they trade TK. Again, not ideal to tank.

What will the plan be?

Good luck with that. With their pick likely in the 6-9 range, start looking at guys like Smith, Moore, Benson and Salei.

Try covering up a staff member boning a player might be bad karma

It's great to see the young players get ice time and gain confidence, but I was hoping to stay in the bottom 5 of the draft. Tippett is going to be fun to watch for years to come. I love the slick stick handling of Frost, but I just wish he would put the puck in the net more often. As said before, Hayes is invisible on the ice.

This is also probably the worst interpretation of karma in general that I’ve seen outside of being oblivious to the actions of the organization. Taking the easy way out and tanking should not be good karma in my book, but the lottery percentages are what they are, and you have a better choice of picking top talent finishing at the bottom

Why can't I even argue against this?
We should already have jiricek from last year's draft 😭

Oh I know we won't get any of the players I mentioned... I'd just be happy if we got lucky enough to draft any of those guys.
The flyers will find a way to mess this pick up again though.... because that is what they do

The world turns. That’s over. They are making the right moves to expedite a full rebuild like the flyers should have. Should we lambast Catholics and Penn state fans too?

If it’s not Bedard the Flyers still have a great opportunity picking in the top 7 or 8…if the draft results tell us anything is that the teams miss a lot or get guys that don’t turn out to be anywhere as good as guys taken after them.

Who would you rather have :

Nolan Patrick of Cale Makar?

Brady Tkachuk or Kasperi kotkaniemi?

Matt Boldy, and Moritz Seidel or Kirby Dach?

Tim Stutzle or either Byfield or Lafreniere?

Point is for the Flyers to get better they have to hit on this pick….sure the odds are better but not by enough, outside of Bedard, to think they are screwed picking from 5th to 8th. This draft is very deep. The so called experts are doing their best to nit pick guys not named Bedard or Fantilli, but the truth is that the Flyers will still have a very good opportunity to get another solid foundational piece for the future.

Smith C: very good wheels, excellent skills and good hockey sense. If he was a year older, he would have challenged for 1OA in 22. Floor: 2nd line C, top pp unit; ceiling: top end 1C

Moore C/W: undersized, but is a strong skater with top notch skills, might be better suited as a wing in the NHL. Floor: 2nd line wing, top pp unit. Ceiling: 1st line wing or center

Benson W: small, but possesses very good wheels, excellent hockey sense and great skills. Might be the best pure playmaker in this class: Floor: solid 1LW who drives the top pp unit. Ceiling: franchise winger

Sale W: solid frame, good wheels and skills. Plays an advanced game, a very smart player who can be relied on in all situations.
Floor: very good 2 way wing who plays on the 2nd pp unit and is a regular on the pk.
Ceiling: perennial Selke contender who also plays on the top line and scores at a point per game rate.

My personal ranking of these 4 who are 5-8 on my overall list:
Smith
Benson
Moore
Sale

I agree, Frost had a good game last night. The biggest difference I see between a player like Frost and a player like Tippet this season is that Tippet has developed into a player that makes something happen pretty much every shift. He gets people off their seat when he has the puck and I have to be honest, its exciting to watch. With Frost its more hit or miss. There are shifts where he makes dazzling plays and then ther are shifts and even periods where I wonder if he even played. Now its been better with Frost because it used to be entire games where I would wonder if Frost was playing, so there has been an improvement throughout the year. Frost is never going to be a defensive player nor a player that will win a majority of puck battles in the corners, so a key for him is to keep his legs moving, use his speed and drive offense. I would also like to see Frost shoot more because I think he has a sneaky quick shot with good accuracy. For Tippet, happy to see him driving the net more but I still feel he needs to improve his shot accuracy.

I see what you are saying here, but for me sometimes style influences perception.

I HAVE TO SAY THIS AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE....WELL, WE KNOW WHERE WE ARE, I AM IN NO WAY SAYING TIPPETT AND FROST ARE LIKE THESE TWO PLAYERS IN ANY WAY OTHER THAN TO MAKE A POINT....

But it is kind of like Eric Lindros vs Adam Oates. One guy was a loud banging type of player who drew attention all over the ice (Tippett) and the other is a quiet almost silent assassin who sneaks in and out of view and makes silent plays (Frost)

Both can be equally effective yet draw completely different kinds of attention.

For deliberately ripping off their ticket holders, fans and sponsors and impacting the integrity of the game in a totally transparent and unapologetic attempt to be the worst team in the league solely for the purpose of getting a chance at drafting Bedard. At least Columbus tried to ice a competitive team with Johnny Hockey and Laine, Montreal tries to build and be competitive, Arizona is just a failed franchise, but the Blackhawks (who covered up for a rapist) are terrible on purpose. Bills idea of karma would be sweet Justice. Maybe the hockey gods won’t smile on them and they’ll drop 2 spots. They got nothing for Toews, and next to nothing for Kane. So far so good with that.

Oh come on. We got York instead of Caufield, that was the Flyers big “take a D over a F” recent moment. That’s working out just fine! 🤥
