yeah I wouldn't mind having an ignore option or whatever but a voting system does sound like a horrible idea if you simply want to have regular conversations/sports banter, and not be involved in a lame popularity contest where everyone is trying to get as many upvotes as possible or some poop.

It makes posting on there a pointless endeavor, especially considering reddit seems to be a magnet for people who exhibit anti-social behavior irl. The anonymity gives them the ability to be rude to someone with a differing opinion.

Basically got hit with downvotes and comments "if you fucking hate it stop fucking listening." People don't act like this in person, but their deviant behavior is enabled on reddit
