« Tous les jours il y a du monde qui doivent être évalués. Il était ici il y a quelques mois, mais il avait manqué beaucoup de temps et on ne trouvait pas que c'était une situation favorable pour lui donner un match. Maintenant il est prêt à avoir un match et on va le lui donner demain », a justifié St-Louis.

Don't think so.
And he's been playing very well too.
So I guess they do want to test him because they have a choice to make this summer about their goaltenders.
If they keep Allen and Sam, Primeau goes through waivers and we most likely lose him.
If they think Primeau can split the net with Sam, maybe they consider trading Allen this summer.
Should be interesting to see him play but so far, he hasn't shown anything encouraging at the NHL level. - Scabeh
I get all that, but they need to see him in a meaningless game in Philly to evaluate him? they cannot do that in Laval while they are fighing for a playoffs spot?
like I said, weird move

they know what he can do at the AHL level, he's done it before

I am not convinced Primeau is any long-term solution for the Habs in net, perhaps as a back-up, but not gonna be a difference maker. He has not shown the kind of progress we were expecting in Laval really, and his play at the NHL has been mediocre at best (yeah, the team in front of him sucks, but still).
If he ends up being something more useful than a career back up 20-25 games a season, great.
