I don't think it will be any of them. To be honest, Danny should be the President and then hire a GM, it doesn't make any sense otherwise. Torts is talking about how to build the team and not naming a captain next season. What if the new President doesn't agree with that approach or changes his/her mind after a year or so of being here? What then? Either the President is going to have authority which means Danny might be out of a job, or they are going to be a figure head only which is not good for anyone. That is why to me Danny should be the President of hockey Ops with real authority, and bring in a GM from the outside, someone like Mathieu Darche. - jd250
There are questions of whether Briere is qualified to be the GM, let alone team president.

At the start of the season your dammed right I called Frost an AHL player because that is what he was playing like. Torts has coached Frost up, though recently and openly admitted he still does not have 100/% trust in Frost. Frost has apparently worked hard and taken the coaching, but the credit goes to Torts and his staff for working with the player. For the first time in a long time, we have a group of coaches that are actually developing the FLyers' younger players, and yet you still coimplain! - jd250
It is known that you did. That he was playing like an AHL player at the start of the season is figment of your imagination. Just like Tortorella being the hands down winner of the Jack Adams award was a figment of your imagination. Ristolainen being one of the best defenseman in the NHL was a figment of your imagination. Fletcher putting the team on the path to the cup was a figment of your imagination. McAvoy not being one of the best defenseman in the league was a figment of your imagination. And on and on and on. |

According to SanFillipo the 3 names for the President of Hockey Ops - Ray Shero, Scott Mellanby, and Robert Esche. - Trox88
Gird your loins, it's gonna be Ray Shero.

Yup. The giveaway was a week or two ago when Chuck was fired and the Flyers media "pre-empted" the conversation by saying Shero would be an outside hire.
The playbook isn't nearly as clever as they think it is. |

You're not. Although he is having a subpar season offensively, Matthews is right there as an overall player. |

if so, and danny has questions....shero was always able to pull off some ridiculous trades. some good, some bad of course, but seems he won more than he lost.

Frost has seven points in his last five games. His 24 points over his last 36 games — since the start of 2023 — leads the Flyers. And it goes beyond points. Philadelphia controlled 74.44 percent of the expected goals at five-on-five on Tuesday with Frost on the ice; a team-high mark. And that wasn’t a one-game anomaly, either. During the month of March, Frost has posted a 59.44 percent xG share across 12 games, an undeniably stellar rate that trails only Tippett among Flyers forwards over that span.

I don't have a problem with Ray Shero. He did pretty well with the Penguins.

He did draft Hischier over Patrick, which at the time was not a slam dunk. My personal preference is Esche, but my bias usually leans towards "outside the box". |

Chuck Fletcher could have won Cups w/ Sid, Geno, Flower and Letang to build around.
(I guess technically he did b/c he was their AGM lol) |

Curious, when reviewing Esche's career after playing, why do you not consider him as "fresh and innovative"? |

I just don't think that will happen because of the optics of it. I think Comcast is well aware of fan sentiment right now and I would be shocked if they signed off on getting anyone in here that has ties to the Flyers. |

To be honest, I don't really know that much about him. He just doesn't excite me. I'm more comfortable with someone with NHL experience that is not part of the "old guard" so to speak. There are many factors for me that come into play. I'm sort of looking for a middle ground. Someone who embraces the modern day NHL and how the game is played now. I can't tell you if that is Esche or not. Same with Briere. It's not that I think he can't do the job. It's that there is nothing to rely on to form an opinion. That makes me uncomfortable. |

I don't know. I think if you have a business degree and a name you can be an NHL team president. Its the GM job that to me is the most important job the Flyers need to get right this off season. The right person can hurl this team forward. The wrong person can set this team back another decade as we have seen in the past two GMs. |

Appreciate the response, have a feeling the President will be named shortly after the season ends.
