theyve scored some goals recently, put 7 in on Washington, 5 on the Islanders

it's a crazy game against them

Jackets are on the 2010-ish Islanders plan. A small handful of high-end talent up front, bad depth, bad defense, bad goaltending. Guys playing their asses off for jobs next year and zero pressure otherwise means they'll come out firing against teams wearing down from playing hard for a playoff spot most of the season.

Those years the Islanders seemed to, at least the way I remember it, surge a little bit at the end of the year just enough to sorta get your hopes up for the next season and ruin your draft pick for the current year

Draft is already rigged for Philly or Montreal anyway.

That’s the thing with Kane, he’s most impressive as a passer than a scorer which is overlooked until you watch him game to game.
Hawks fan here who will be rooting for Kane and you guys in the playoffs.

If they Blackhawks get Bedard I hope that franchise is sucked into the abyss.

Bett-man has such a hard on to keep hockey in Arizona when no one else in the world wants it there, I could see him "steering" Bedard there some how

Even if they "succeed" there, they won't generate a fraction of what teams like CHI/PHI/MTL do when they're competitive. Obviously I don't think there's a conspiracy, but if there were one then it'd definitely favor the big-market teams

if we're putting our tin foil hats on i see no way that Arizona being relevant makes the league more money than CHI or MTL. The yotes could literally fall into the abyss tomorrow never to be seen again and the league would probably increase its revenue

I really dont get why they dont pull the plug on it, the league has done a lot of senseless things, but this one is right at the top

I get the feeling that they'll finally pull the trigger if Arizona can't secure an arena deal soon. No matter how nice the arena actually is it's still an embarrassment for the league to have a franchise playing there.

Assuming they move the Yotes out east, flipping DET back to the West would very slightly improve that poopty conference

If it were Houston then they could balance the conferences out easily. But everything I've heard so far is that the Rockets ownership (who I believe own the arena) really don't have a huge interest in a hockey team. Obviously that could change.

Detroit doesn't want to do that at all

I know their fans used to hate having to watch so many road games out of their time zone

Seems like the most logical choice, but not sure (reasons above) that it'll happen, as things stand now.

How would Houston balance them out? That's still the western conference so nothing changes

And I think the team had the worst travel of any team in the league. Play in the EST time zone but nearly every game is in a different one and lots of trips all the way out west to CA and Western Canada

Detroit has it bad because of time zone but Nashville has to travel so much damn further

but Nashville is central time, if Detroit were to go back to that conference, they'd again be only eastern time zone team

I still think Arizona makes most sense to move to Houston, Kansas City or Milwaukee

Sorry I thought you were saying they could put DET back in the West if the Yotes came east and I kinda skimmed right past the competitive balancing part of what you said. I thought it was purely about keeping 16 teams in each conference.

if Arizona moves to Houston, I think Winnipeg would have to go to the West

they probably wouldn't love it, but, at least there are three other Canadian teams
