The issue was the pass to him before the shot. Should have taken the shot and aim for the rebound

Bad first period comes back to haunt the Rangers. They were better in second and had a solid third. But the first 20 minutes was the killer and Devils were strong defensively in the last frame

We were outshot 31-25 (at least 5 of which came with the goalie pulled) and they had an additional 20 shots blocked by us (compared to our 9). It wasn’t just the 1st. It’s that the 1st was so bad that by comparison that the 2nd and 3rd didn’t seem terrible. Igor shut the door and gave us a shot but we didn’t have an answer 5 on 5

The angle was such that it was likely to miss and come out of the zone, as it did. I was thinking that before he even started to shoot it. Not that it’s that simple when you’re out there. But that was the nail in the coffin

It just seems like outside of Boston, our two potential first round opponents (most likely NJD but a slim chance of CAR) are the teams we’re least suited to play out of any teams in the whole league

EDIT: I realize that’s not saying too much because those are the 3 best teams in the league by points but you get it. Their styles of play

I’d prefer the canes. Canes have a better defense but aren’t as good in transition as the devils. Seems to give the rangers problems. We will see if the rangers have another gear come playoff time

I dont know man, all it takes is a hot goalie. Not gonna say that I think Florida will beat them, but all it takes is getting hot at the right time. Florida has more than enough firepower to challenge Boston.

He looked quick last night. To beat the devils you need sustained pressure in their zone. Just have to neutralize their transition game.

Harpur against fast teams really stuggles. Miller and Mikkola stood out on the backend bc they are probably the fastes dmen we have

There were some unsubstantiated reports he would start skating soon but who knows. I don’t think he had surgery or we would’ve heard about it so I assume it’s a sprained MCL. Recovery time is usually(without setbacks) 5-8 weeks I believe. If that’s actually the case he should start skating soon.

Now that the rangers are pretty much fully locked into the 3 seed with the loss last night, don’t even think about bringing Lindgren back till the playoffs. They need him if they want to advance

The charts don't seem to have any bonus points for Schneider for blocking a shot with his goalie out of position or clearing away a tap in goal from the crease.
I'm not saying he didn't have some struggles, but without those plays it's not even a game.
