Brad Shaw was probably arguing this point with the officials and he seemed satisfied with their interpretation of the events. ND asked for the fight. Hence no extra penalty. - Tomahawk
all of this can be true and we don't know what was said. What did the Sen player say to ND for ND want to fight? How was your day or more likely, I'll knock your block off, was it ND asking to fight or accepting his offer? We both don't know for sure.
To solve problems it is often best to start at the end. The NHL does not want this happening, it was lucky it did not devolve into something worse. If you look at how the NHL would correct this, it would start with keeping other players away from the combatants, the cause of the whole event, yes or no?

How invested was Brad Shaw in last night’s game? - SuperSchennBros
Yeah, he doesn't care. That's why Torts keeps working with him. |

Officials were standing right there, tho. They could hear/see everything.

Devolve into what? It was already a bit of a circus, both players got tossed to put a lid on it. Case closed.

I don't think ND did anything wrong. I don't think Kastelic did anything wrong.
Everything was above board. |

Yes, I would agree but as I posted earlier. Linesman are not always able to keep players separated. Once the fight was over, they ejected both players to try and calm things down. |

I'm only rude to those who are rude to me. Posting confidently and with assurance is not rude. Nor is it intended to be. You can dismiss my points at your discretion. I don't care. My points stand on their own merit. Attack or disagree with my points all you want. I welcome it. |

This is not a hypothetical situation. That is exactly what happened. It is not a different context. It is the exact context of what happened. - MJL
then why did your question start with what if? yes they are two different situations.
one being a player is gassed and challenges someone.
the other is challenging someone to fight right after they fought someone else. the examples i provided.
nd seemed to have plenty of energy left, last night, and that was the second scenario.

yeah and they always get it right, hearing everything is unknown, there is a reason communication is always the biggest challenge in business and life

all players fighting, bench clearing brawl. Sure the case could be closed, but we don't know that, will the NHL look at this?
I answered your question, you missed my last question in my prior post

agree, why my point is it should be an unsportsmanlike conduct call, maybe not last night but going forward for sure.

The officials lapsed and allowed the players to mingle after the fight. That was a mistake on their part.
The result was a nothing burger tho. A guy fighting for a second time isn't the end of the world, nor is it even unprecedented.
Personally I'm glad there was no extra PP. I didn't want the Flyers winning that game and I know I'm not alone here in that sentiment.

To lead to what actually happened. It was rhetorical. There aren't two different situations. There is only the situation that happened. A hypothetical situation is not being discussed. The actual situation that happened is. |

We really should be talking about the Flyers pathetic display of hockey and only recording 5 shots on net through two period and 11 total for the game. They played well leading up to this game. Why the complete drop off in play with an atrocious effort. They should be thankful Ottawa is really bad defensively. Almost as bad as the Flyers are. |

Just what Torts are you talking about? I see a coach who is not afraid to bench a vet, has said all year long we must rebuild and has shown a commitment to bringing young players up properly and giving them a chance to contribute. That’s exactly what you and the rest of us have been asking for from a flyers coach for years. He’s the one guy that has said from the jump that this team must rebuild and do it the RIGHT way. This year his actions have proven his commitment to a youth movement.
He also has lead this org down a path that all of us have been begging for. He’s actually the progressive here. Where’s the problem?
Yes, the know nothing Columbus “hockey” media did not like to be called out when they asked nonsense questions and yes he wants his players to play the right way (see Frosts blocked shot the other night which then lead to a goal).
Are we that hypersensitive that his “tough” talk disqualifies him from coaching our team?
I pay my money and want a guy that’s gonna have the guts to stick up to his bosses and tell it like it is which he has done all year long and is probably the number one reason why Fletcher and Scott are gone. You should be thanking him.
The more I think about it the more I’ve come to the realization that he is the exact coach you and the rest of us were asking for.
Where’s the problem?
Plez don’t give me some nonsense about running an archaic system. Give him the horses and he will implement a more brindy style puck pursuit strategy. Besides, it’s the execution that’s important and this guy has been working with a skeleton crew all year.
I will critique one area - the ot strategy w two d. Other than that he has been a breath of fresh air here and has done an outstanding job. - Joe Nardone
Thank you! Torts is a boot camp drill sergeant that makes warriors out of the boys before they become elite forces.
And Flyers do need one of those for the same reason military needs them |

all of this very likely. i pray we move on from Hayes but I'm not banking on it. I could also see Laughton moved and Lemeiux on board until he overstays his welcome. We shall see.
While TK would fetch a lot I don't think we move him yet. I don't know where they stand on Hart yet. I'm leaning toward they keep him.
But I've been wrong before!

I think Hayes is as good as gone. It's just a question of how good or bad of a deal they make to do so. I also don't think they will deal Konecny. I think the players most likely to move are Hayes, Provorov and Hart. |
