You know what else might have happened? He might not have gotten injured at all. - SoCalPucks
I'm basing my opinion off his long injury history.
We probably shouldnt add any defense this off season, we have samuelsson. He might not get injured 🤔 |

Boss always brings up the injury, but doesn't say it happened on a slew foot by Hedman. He acts like the guy was skating down the ice and pulled a groin muscle. - Buff36
Does it really matter how chyrun gets injured every year?
Terrible trade target. Glad ottawa can come in 14th last with the cat and fragile chickenman.
Kuemper losing 4 straight when they needed it |

Beautiful day in Paradise!
Big picture:
Sabres playing meaningful games in April
Sabres developing all the young talent into NHL players, different rates and levels using patience and encouragement to build confidence.
Sabres have a poop ton of prospects developing very nicely in their respective leagues
Sabres have ammunition to make trades to source players at critical positions
Sabres building culture that is very attractive to players desiring win big.
Adams and team showed intelligence in their contract signings to secure a young explosive core, which was identified on this board as an absolute critical, but unproven capability.
Now, the nay-sayers are circling their wagons taking their stand on the hill-to-die-on that he hasn't made hockey trades and are highly doubtful he has it in him.
All the hurdles Adams and team have over come are very evident, yet the nay-sayers conti ually look for the next challenge with skepticism rather than enthusiasm.
PTSD clouds optimism. |

These were flat out stupid moves that thirtysixensons suggested.
We're a budget team last season. And probably this season.
Who thought the Sabres were gonna go and buy players?
Chryrun was/is an injury waiting to happen.
Obviously - Boss34
They had plenty of time to evaluate Joker, Bryson, and Fitz and address the defense last summer. They put it off a year.
I wasn't team-Chychrun either, but it's not like he was just a 36 fixation. Sabres have fixated on him for a long time. Glad he was traded so they can move on and hopefully find a better fit.

I still don't understand this mode of thought, but PTSD is a decent explanation for it.

The only thing missing from that was the rights to Justin Holl. I'd be tucking it into my waistband if he had included that mega-offer. - TheSabresTaco

miss the playoffs by 1 point

Not circling anything, nothing I have proposed would have hurt this team. Even getting Bear or Timmins might have helped at the time. Not one person has ever said drafting and developing is bad, actually think most would be for it. The Sabres are loaded with prospects, will have even more after this draft. Half of these prospects will never see a Sabres Uniform, especially with the young players in front of them, and a few locked up long term. Nothing wrong with wanting a goalie upgrade or a D upgrade or a top 6 upgrade. Adams D and Goalie situation have been bad since he has been here and really hasn't done much about it, and yes you can say the Golden Child. Doesn't dismiss the years prior. Both approaches can be right!! |

Very true.
It's also a hockey forum, everything's great is extremely boring. Criticizing the GM isn't unique to Sabre fans, every fan base in every sport does it.

recency bias is not a part of (good) organizations. He's stated many times that evaluations are season long.
Bryson, Comrie and UPL have been poop. Asplund was poop. Clague is fine as a 7 or 8. Joker has been overall fair. VO is somewhere in between poop and ok, sometimes.
An honest assessment of the top 6 of that D is missing one top 4 player.

Use Joker to get him.
Maybe Johnson surprises. |

I think:
Anderson retires. Check.
Okposso realizes he doesn't have it. Is mature enough to realize he will hold the team back, he retires and gets a job in the organization. Check.
FO realizes :
Girgs is easily replaceable and can't justify a multi year deal. Check.
UPL needs more time and needs to play big minutes...in the AHL
Acquires a mentor vet goalie to share the net with Levi (unless Levi suits the bed hear on out.
That leaves the question of how and where to bolstering the D for them to s9lve. If Johnson signs and looks the part at RhD...oh boy that will complicate their decision making.
Great Evaluation and Development year is being overlooked by some.

Absolutely.
The level of criticism onspeculative assumptions presented as facts are at an all time high.
One by one those speculative assumptions have collapsed in grand fashion.

With UPL no longer waiver-exempt, what do you do? Can you really risk losing him to a claim?
If they plan on Levi next year, I think they need to move him. |

Dont get this. It would be horrible if the last game of the year was a win and your in?
The year would be a huge success. Many here were calling us a bottom 5 roster prior to season.
Adams obviously didnt put together a bottom 5 roster but is already getting flak for possibly keeping the same bottom 5 roster next year?
Most of the NHL look at sabres and complement what the granato has done with the young roster and lots here would of fired him a few weeks ago |

you see what his trade value is before you do anything else. May sound obvious but if they're looking for a move like a Varlamov, then you have to find his worth, because waivers probably won't cut it.
Will Levi ever see an Amerks jersey?

Yes. Everyone basically starts on the NHL roster and has to clear to go down (if not exempt).
