Probably my mistake but I’m going to go with these guys will play a little more inspired hockey and go 3-1. I’m prepared to be wrong. - Cptmjl
3-1 The loss will be against Tampa but it could be Montreal knowing this team

Beauvillier that “barely a 3rd line player “ has found himself a home in Vancouver. 19 points with 9 goals in 28 games. |

The home crowd will stay with them until they get a PP. When they can't even get the puck into the zone, that's when the crowd will turn, and who can blame them. |

3g and 5a over his last 17 games. He's coming back to earth. We all knew he would do this. I hope he does well, but I'm fine with having moved him. It remains to be seen if the overall deal was the right decision. |

A little late on this, but no Pierre Engvall at practice. #Isles

I agree. I don't know who said Beau was barely a 3rd liner...I'd have said he's stuck somewhere between a second and third liner. The problem is that describes too many of the Isles' forwards and they needed something beyond that. They had to move someone to shake things up, and Beau was probably the only real tradable asset they had out of that pack of forwards. If he takes off in Vancouver, God bless him. It's not like he wasn't given a fair chance to do that here.
The real question, as you said, is, was Horvat the right guy to get in that deal? I guess it's not looking so great at the moment, but time will tell. |

It’s funny the last few games I’ve been too the crowd barely cheers when they get a PP. Then the unit gets on the ice which of course leads to booing when they invariably cough up the puck and or can’t get anything to the net. Then the crowd completely turns on them which I’m sure makes it even more difficult for them to do anything productive. |

The guy wasn’t doing anything here it was time to move on. Maybe him not doing anything is a deeper problem within the organization who knows. Like you said he was given every opportunity to succeed here and didn’t to the point he was more a salary dump aspect of the trade then anything else. I’m sure there will be revisionist history on here like there always is. I wish him well and am happy he’s doing well in the western conference but don’t regret for a second him being gone even with Horvat not really demonstrating a whole heck of a lot.
As far as Horvat goes I’ll say what I said since the trade happened. If this deal was done two years ago I would’ve loved it. But for a team that didn’t make the playoffs last year and may miss again this year, with an aging roster, I think it was ill conceived especially with giving up a first in this draft. |

Hey, they insisted on having a building that would amplify the crowd noise, now they have to deal with the impatient, had-it-up-to-here Isles fans |

I think yes, but I’m not sure we’ll see the full benefit of that this year. The swap of team/city/country/coach/system must be one hell of thing to adjust to. |

It’s laughable at this point. From what I read Lambert decided to “mix up” the PP units just in time with four games left in the season. |

Sorry if this is repeating things, but this team has an issue with having enough offense without the defense falling apart. Maybe Beau has more freedom or just needed a change? The Islanders do seem to have an issue with balancing good offense and defense.
It was all about the timing with the Bo trade. Lou seemed to have faith in the roster until the Bo trade. I get trades are tough, but just adding Romanov this offseason was not a good idea.

Yeah, I'm disappointed he hasn't scored more...we all know the Isles could sure use the goals. But I'm not ready to close the book on the guy yet. Heck, if all he becomes is a competent trigger man for Barzal, that'd be worth it! |

Bo and Barzal really looked good together. It's being able to improve the rest of the forward group that will be the issue this offseason. If the team misses the playoffs, that will only hurt in signing quality UFA's even more.

I believe there’s some truth to this but ultimately the problem is depth imo. You can’t have your offensive guys skating around trying to hang on every game instead of pushing the play to the net. |

Just looking at a player like Wally, he has yet to break out and seemed to be very highly rated. Islanders have had issues reaching offensive minded players. I think the game has changed and the Islanders may be built towards an older style of play. |

Maybe. The team needs to add some speed and scoring. That’s simplifying it of course but that’s the need I don’t think it’s a big secret. |

Heavy defensive style seems to be a thing of the past. It's a lot of pressure on the goalie and defense. You still need to be able to score when needed and especially against the elite teams. |
