Guys can slide a few picks for reasons but I can't ever recall a kid who was #2-4 in the final pre-draft rankings falling out of the 1st-round.
(especially when we're talking about a "generational" talent) - Tomahawk
wait, who said anything about him falling out of the first round?

I feel like there are generally more 'reaches' than falls in NHL drafts. Then again, some recent reaches like Seider have really worked out.
Ho-Sang comes to mind as someone who fell dramatically, though still got picked in the first round. I feel like Brad Lambert was mocked to go way higher than 30th last year. |

Yeah, to be honest, I would put the chances of him falling to us at 30% for. Which I guess is high. You just don't pass up on a kid like that. Some say he rivals Bedard. I wont go that far but he is arguably the #2 best prospect in the draft.
Ill wait the three years and let him develop in the KHL and he comes over when he is 21 ready to go. - MBFlyerfan
if so, when he comes hopefully he brings fedotov with him.

I'm still mad Fletcher didn't get Lundell in the Giroux trade! |

Question for Bill if he's around - do you recall a head coach ever taking multiple nights off like this before? I've been following the NHL for 30 years and I can't remember it ever happening before. |

Yeah, there's really nothing apparently wrong w/ Michkov's attitude and he's come on strong in the second half of the season, so the only red flag is the Russian situation... and all the Russians tabbed to go in the 1st-round in 2022 ended up going 1st-round (Mintyukov, Yurov and Miroshnichenko).
Almost all of the teams who are scheduled to pick at the top of the draft this time around are just as desperate for elite talent as the Flyers are. Not sure how Michkov survives the top-7 picks w/o somebody snapping him up. |

I'd be shocked if he made it past 4. I think, depending on how the order shakes out, a team could prioritize Carlsson being a center over drafting Michkov, but after that no way. I think it's clear he is more talented than Smith, Benson, Moore etc. If he somehow makes it to 7 (assuming that's where the Flyers end up) Briere better go back to his old tricks and start slashing people in the ear to get up to the stage and make the pick. |

Take this for what’s it worth, heard from a friend who is northeast NHL scout that he heard rumblings that Torts might be the GM of of the Flyers as early as next season and Shaw will run the bench. Briere would be president of hockey ops. |

Wow, interim general manager to president just like that? He's really working his way up. |

He is most certainly going in the first round. There is no doubt about that. That is a 100% certainty.
If he fell to us at 7 the Flyers should sprint to the podium and take him. I doubt he falls that far. - MBFlyerfan
Why do you think this? Given what happened to the Flyers goalie prospect, you don’t think teams will be cautious? The flyers can’t afford to screw this pick up, they need a player that is going to play for them, not a player that will be stuck in Russia for the foreseeable future because of growing tensions between our two countries. You must take this into account! |

weirder things have happened. coots fell during his draft year due to getting mono. there was someone else who fell pretty far years ago but forget who it was. not willing to search random draft years trying to figure it out. just remember the commentators at the draft saying he'd be the next pick and it was like 10 later (maybe exaggerated) when the person went. - Peter Richards
That was Alexei Cherepanov. Central scouting had him rated as the #1 European player in that 2007 draft, and was projected to be a top pick. He ended up falling to 17 and the Rangers finally grabbed him.
It's odd that Coots supposedly fell to the Flyers due to mono, yet he didn't actually have any drop-off in his overall production. He matched the previous season output in less games played.
Contrast that with a guy like Patrick, who had one outstanding season (on a very very deep Wheat King team), otherwise every junior year was plagued with injuries and he stayed in the top 2 lol |
