Take this for what’s it worth, heard from a friend who is northeast NHL scout that he heard rumblings that Torts might be the GM of of the Flyers as early as next season and Shaw will run the bench. Briere would be president of hockey ops.

I think at this point, barring some crazy results, we are pretty much locked in at the 7th worst record.

That leaves us with a 6.5% chance at the 1st pick. A 6.9% chance at the 2nd pick. A 44.4% chance at the 7th pick. A 36.5% chance at the 8th pick. And a 5.6% chance at the 9th pick.

Start accumulating good karma so the Hawkey Gawds smile on us and Punish the Blackhawks for all their transgressions. While helping us for trying to win games.

Oh glorious Hawkey Gawds, we beseetch thee to smile upon our honest effort to maintain the integrity of the game you hath given us. We humbly ask that you smite the pedophile homophobes in Chicago and curse them with the 3rd pick in the draft.

In Gordie's name we pray

Amen.

No need to do that. Fletcher finished the job in killing this team for 5 to 7 years or more.

No problem if DeAngelo is 7th Dman next season. He is so bad defensively. Playing him to the deadline might get them a 4th yrs down the line. Who cares- let one of the kids play instead. His cap hit coming off is the true reward at the end of next season.

Tony DeAngelo 1 point from 200 for his career.

James van Riemsdyk 1 goal away from 300 for his career.

Travis Konency 1 goal from 30, season high.

Morgan Frost 1 goal away from 20, season high.

Scott Laughton 2 goals away from 20, season high. Also 2 points away from 200 for his career.

Kevin Hayes 3 goals from 20. He’s terrible and won’t get it.

Can someone please explain to me how Cates' goal was disallowed? The replay clearly showed his glove never touched the puck even though he instinctually tried to bat it. What is the point of replay if refs are still going to stick with what appears to be an obviously erroneous call on the ice? I found this interpretation of the rule:

Rule 10.2 (a)(ii)

If an attacking player bats the puck and it is deflected into the goal by any player (attacking or defending) or goaltender, the goal will NOT be allowed. The key principle of this rule is that no goal can be scored when an attacking player bats the puck, unless the puck is subsequently clearly “shot” into the goal. After any batted puck, the Referee or Linesperson should watch closely for a clear shooting action. If the puck enters the goal and no clear shooting action was observed, disallow the goal.

So I take it that after the puck hit Cates he would have had to clearly shoot the puck into the net otherwise the goal is not allowed?

Because he is an elite talent and the Flyers should have no problem waiting until his KHL contract is up. He will be 21 when that happens. The tensions between our countries didn't stop all the other Russians from coming over since the 80's. The money is too good.

He could by some chance fall to 7. There is absolutely ZERO chance he falls out of the first round. ZERO.

I have never seen Michkov play so all I know is what I read about him. But here is an example of what I am talking about:

The Carolina Hurricanes selected Russian defenceman Alexander Nikishin out of the KHL in the third round of the 2020 NHL Draft. While Carolina may lack elite-level prospects in an otherwise fairly deep prospect pool, Nikishin has risen to the top of that list. However, complications between the NHL and KHL may leave the Hurricanes deciding between sitting patiently waiting on Nikishin’s NHL arrival or moving him for assets.

Note Alexander Nikishin is a 21 year old defenseman who is currently 9th in scoring in the KHL, scoring at a much higher rate than Michkov. I don't want the Flyers to be in this situation. I would rather draft another player that is close in talent and have him playing for the team within 2 years.

Seen some of the highlights…not a lot…but when scouts say he and Connor Bedard are neck and neck talent wise or at least were up to the point where mish got steamrolled and was out for a while I take notice. After Bedard… talent wise he’s probably #2….but with his contract and being from Russia, he may fall.

Looked like he punched at it. Didn’t look like he made contact but in fairness it was pretty hard to be sure….call on the ice stands. I thought they might count it…kind of how the whole season has gone.

Yes, I think he will fall and if available to the Flyers at 7 or whereever they end up picking I think they should pass also. Maybe if Michkov falls into the 20s the Flyers can make a trade to get back into the 1st round and grab him in hopes that maybe things get better between our two countries, then the risk is much less. I just don't see the Flyers being any lower than they are now given the emergence of their young players, and Attard looked pretty good last night also, thus I feel the Flyers can't afford to miss on this pick.

Yes I think the focus was on the missed punch at the puck as a reason the goal should count, but looking at this rule it looks like the puck can bounce off your glove but then you have to shoot the puck into the net otherwise it does not count. Yet a puck can bounce off a players leg and be counted as long as there is no kicking motion, or the puck can deflect off you butt and past the goalie and that counts but this one doesn't count. Its confusing at best IMO.

If he’s there at #7 the Flyers run to the podium and take him. Comparison with Jack Hughes being available at 7? I don’t see Mish falling any further then 5…not a chance.
