Dumb dumb dumb defensive play by Trochek. He should have staked closer to Kapanen and taken the pass away instead of lazily playing the guy coming down the ice. |

Seemed like miscommunication by panarin and Tro.
Panarin and miller have to lead the team in turnovers. Good thing tonight is meaningless bc those two looked bad |

Im not sure where the miscommunication could have been. Trochek was in the play, Panarin wasnt. The only play to make was Trochek should have kept skating and took the pass to Kapanen away. Its a whole lot easier for the goalie to make the play on the shooter in front of him than the player across the ice. |

For all the trocheck haters
Trocheck has 21G/41A/62P, with 180 hits, 53 takeaways, 706 FOW, and a 56.6 FOW%
Strome has 14G/22A/36P, with 28 hits, 29 takeaways, 389 FOW and a 43.7 FOW%
Reminder, Trocheck only gets paid $625K more than Strome yearly |

Watching it live I put it on Panarin more than Tro. Trocheck was in decent defensive position on the puck carrier. Why did Bread go to him, pointing for Tro to switch at that point? He should've stretched to get in the passing lane. IMO.
Edit: not live. Should have said, "watching it at 2:30am after waking up having missed 1/2 the game!" |

And 2 of those are Pittsburgh's remaining opponents, along with Detroit. It's a real possibility they make the playoffs and Florida misses. Panthers have to play Wash, Toronto and Carolina. |

Panarin was too far away and had no shot to get to Kapanen to take that pass away, Trochek should have abandoned the puck carrier and took the pass away. Again, its a lot easier for a goalie to take on a shot coming from directly in front of him. Pretty sure what Panarin wanted Trochek to do was to take on Kapanen and then Panarin would have challenged the puck carrier from behind. When Trochek didnt Panarin stopped skating, but also at the same time, so did Trochek kind of and he didnt even bother stepping up on the puck carrier. |
