I did read the article. I know what is role will be in the search. Is his company the best possible consulting company to hire executives? Possibly.
I would just be curious how that process played out that Billy King's company was determined to be the best. - Trox88
They used a modern approach and hired a consulting company to help them find the best consulting company to find the new president of hockey ops.

If I'm not mistaken, they used the same modern approach to hiring the coach. That got them Tortorella. Not exactly modern. - MJL

Hilferty is apparently really well connected in Philly. My guess is that he knows King or someone at his company. - Dkos
That's fine. The organization was heavily criticized for years having a committee on the hockey ops side made up entirely of old hockey guys. Not suggesting that criticism was not warranted. Now, Comcast is doing a 180 creating a committee of very limited hockey background making hockey ops decisions. Now as others have pointed out. may be King has a methodology so remarkable that it does not matter the industry in hiring the correct candidate for an executive position. However, I think it is fair to question the process on how this conmittee was created. Having questions, does not mean happy or unhappy. |

Ottawa resorting to goonery because Lyon has transformed himself into a brick wall. B. Tkachuk took him out, no call…now another one, no call. All hell is going to break loose if the refs don’t call goalie interference…roughing the goalie or something!

I understand not trusting Comcast and the Flyers, but it felt like you were suggesting the only reason King is involved is for optics; to show how concerned they are about diversity. I’m just pointing out that the guy might actually be a valuable resource. He coached and was a GM and President of NBA teams. He’s no dope.

I do think there are optics involved. The last committee under Scott was a bunch of old hockey guys. New committee under Haliferty pretty much complete opposite. I did not think questioning the optics was taboo. Certainly, could turn out to be the right decision. I question something to want to gather more information, not as an attempt to show contempt. |

I know Risto's been decent recently but he's looking awful tonight. Turning pucks over, flubbing passes, taking penalties, etc. |

Did you read the article? He’s a senior partner at a company that consults businesses on hiring executives. He’s not a candidate for the position. All the talk of the Flyers being stuck in the dark ages Im surprised people here aren’t more positive about them taking a more modern approach - Dkos

Provy making a business decision. Back up to the goalie and turn out of the way when the guy shoots. Wow |
