After reading this I feel a little better about the consulting thing. Seems Hilferty has a vision of evolving in to a 21st century organization. He’s saying all the right things and it’s clear he’s a fan which hopefully translates in to knowing what fans want. - mikeyo27
He said a lot of things that I didn't want to hear. I think they're going to lean far too much on Tortorella. Clarke, Barber, etc will still be resources. Not a good thing. |

We're picking 7, 8, or 9: wherever the drop off in elite talent happens to fall. Then we select whomever will have injury or "development" issues. It's our lot in life. This is known.

Was this also Hart's fault?
https://imgur.com/gallery/J7mzAIY#MkNrbRH - Feanor
I just saw this.
Why is it so hard to stay focus? Yeah, that’s a bad play but it’s also not the play we were discussing. The play we were discussing that was very much on Hart, if Hart didn’t know Provorov was there, who is Hart passing the puck to?
As for this, this is all Provorov. The problem for me by the guy who posted this. Feanor loves to be right and talk poop when he’s right. This is the same guy who spent all last summer telling us Provorov should be traded because the “facts” say Sanheim is better and should be our number one defenseman. Oh shucks, where did those arguments and facts disappear to? Oh yes, he moved the goal post to Cam York instead… |

I wish Provy the best on his new team, just like G. I have a feeling Provy will have a similiar career resurgence. I don't think it is outlandish that a player would get beat down in a deteriorating team environment. Certainly, not a stretch that over the last decade the team environment has been abysmal - Trox88
I bet it will be a breath of fresh air for him. The Flyers will be selling low because I think Provy talent is that of a #1-2 defenseman but the Flyers will not get that in return.
I hope Danny B. and whoever is part of the decision making fixes the developmental parts of the organization. Even if they draft a top talent, as with Provy it still needs to develop to reach that players full potential.
It’s been missing with this team a decade plus. |

You can interpret what was said a few ways, but we’ll have to see. Even with a positive interpretation, it’s not like there is a good track record in recent years.
I like the picture painted of roles and power structures as he laid it out…only thing is that it isn’t applicable until they actually get to hiring the president of hockey operations. I read the advisor part as the “role” will clearly be different under the new structure but that they are respected, and they will always be Flyers. This is the right approach, IMO. He makes it clear that hockey operations decisions will be made by the president, GM and the staff they assemble—full stop. That is who will be fully accountable for hockey ops decisions. Who you ask for advice and in what situation, is a judgment call. With the right approach, the same person’s knowledge can be used in a different way and still be a valued resource.
Just to give a fictional example, let’s say the new GM is negotiating a trade with an older GM, and he isn’t sure what style of negotiation will work best. He could get background from one of the Flyers former GMs who knows the other GM well. In this scenario, the new GM isn’t asking advice about who or what is best, just for insight into the best how of working with a specific GM competitor.

I don't think he's tired. I think he's disgusted and unhappy. He wants out. - MJL
If his play improves on a better team and a steady D partner, magically all this female doging by most never happened. |

The difference is that Giroux always played well. They wanted him to move to wing and boom, he's the best wing on the team. It didn't matter the how bad the team was he still played great. Konecny is on the same team as Provorov and he still performs to his ability. Provorov is supposed to be one of the players who elevates this team. His poor play is on him. If he wants out so much he should be showing other teams that he's worth that $6.7 mil he's being paid. - Dkos
Konency makes a lot of mistakes and doesn’t have to defend much. The credit I’ll give Konency is he has the best motor on the team but he’s far from perfect. |

At least there's room to grow the game in Ohio. A number of decent-sized media markets within the vicinity and a lot of untapped potential.
Montreal offers very little headroom. Who's not already watching there? Would be like sending your best missionary to convert people in Vatican City. - Tomahawk

The power structure existed before where the GM and President made the final decision. I guess you could argue that they would have less influence but if the decisions will be made by the president and GM-full stop. Then why is there a need for the advisors to still be a part of this? They shouldn't be. They should be thanked for their service and removed from the team. While there has certainly been change. Much is still the same. A new GM should have his own style and if he needs advice on a style of negotiation, then they have the wrong guy. |

Well, I see it's been yet another positive day on here. I think an intervention is at hand er a ...at least needed. I'm not sure whether to root for the Pens to miss the playoffs or root for them to make the playoffs and have the pleasure of watching them get obliterated by one of the elite teams! It's comical that many of their fans hope that they miss the playoffs to assure that our buddy Hextall will get fired. |

My point was that his level of play hasn’t fallen off like Provorov’s in the same situation. |

If the Phantoms make the playoffs, it would be fun if the Flyers Broadcasters round table podcast brought in Bob Rotruck (Phantoms radio guy) for an episode as a special guest.

It's ashame Brink lost half year due to hip surgery. I still think he can be a good playmaking winger in the NHL. No doubt, Fantilli is the better prospect. |

Marody gets an empty netter. Phantoms win 5-2. Belpedio got the first goal plus an assist tonight.
Magic number down to 3 to make playoffs.

The situation of these two players aren’t the same, they’ve just been here the same amount of time.
Provorov since stepping into the league has averaged the most ice time on this team, has basically been an iron man and has had only one respectable defensive partner in his career for one full season. Konency has always had offensive talent by his side. In fact it wasn’t until this season Konency was our best forward. |

I think you are being a bit neurotic here.
I was ok with how he talked about the bullies. To me, he effectively put them in an ambassador type of role with his words. He made it clear that they have no input on hockey operations unless someone wants to reach out to them. What else can he say? All he said was briere can bounce something off them if he wants to. That could happen if they have an official role with the flyers or not. I wouldn’t expect that he’d just bury the bullies and say they have no ties anymore.
