I mean even announcers were saying that in the second period, but ok - devils2929 dominating in the third for sure too little too late though but impressive none the less. |

Difference is goaltending and pp. And it will continue to be the difference this series. |

.. no it couldn’t be worse. We’re getting hosed by our rival, who’s fans can literally live next door to you. There is nothing like a rivalry like that. |

Lazar in for Wood, Luke in for Bahl or Graves. Those are the changes I'm making for next game. Absolutely no reason for Luke to not be in the lineup |

Yes, experience won that game. Not the hitting, goalie, blocked shots, PP, not giving 2nd chances...and oh yeah...scoring 5 goals..LMAO |

I know he’ll play more games, but what was the point burning a year off Luke’s rights for him to not play now?
It’s gonna be stupid af if he plays 2 meaningless regular season games and misses half of the Devils playoffs. - jtylerm
He needed to play more than 9 games in order to do that |

… experience is part of what allowed those things to happen, along with coaching and talent. Doi |

Vanecek needs to be better, and we can't take stupid penalties. Playing physical is nice and all but if you're going to put yourself out of position or make late hits you're going to lose to the Rangers' elite powerplay. |

Don't disagree with Ruff at all, him saying he didn't think we played a bad game tonight. Devils were the better team in 2nd and 3rd, specifically at 5v5. Devils heavily controlled the game after the boys settled in. Obviously need to sort out of the special teams and not give up soft goals like Vanecek did though. Can't be giving up freebies. Make some adjustments, both tactically and lineup-wise and we'll be ok. Not time to panic yet |

Agreed. Coaching and talent. That wasn't mentioned in the text I responded to. Devils may win series, but any fan who acts like the only reason NYR might win series is solely because of experience are retarted..lol

I've been pretty disappointed with Graves lately. Bahl has shown potential but Graves has been looking pretty lost lately. I think you probably want to split him up from Marino as he isn't handling the top competition well enough. |

Agreed. Graves just looks slow, both in skating speed and processing the game/moving the puck. Just always seems a step behind with the amped up pace. This was very noticeable in the most recent game against the Bruins too. No idea what Ruff will do though, I'm not too confident in him making the correct game to game adjustments |

Also, if what you said is true, than I'm the only actual Devils fan on this board. |

Well that sucked! Looks like the nerves got the best of them in the first but they seemed to settle in nicely after that. PP was putrid but on the bright side it looks like Jack was made for the playoffs. Igor came up big last night, got to get some misdirection shots on him. And maybe next game we don't let Kreider camp out in front of the net for those deflections. |

Rangers also had 23 block shots. Defense did a good job in getting in the lanes.Rangers played their game. Hopefully Devils can make adjustments |

Rangers kept us to the outside all game and clogged up the middle. This is why we had so many turnovers, as we continuously tried to skate the puck through the middle instead of dumping/chasing. It is also why the Rangers had a ton of blocked shots. Hopefully the Devils can adjust for next game.
Our powerplay was awful and woefully predictable - I was relived to escape without giving up a shorty. Even if we had gotten a few good chances in the first period on the PPs, it would have at least helped gain momentum. Instead, we had 1 shot after 3 PP opportunities and swung momentum the other way.
Wood has to sit. I don't care how much physicality (if any) he brings to this matchup, but If you can't stay on your feet/skates, you are useless. Slot in Lazar., see what he can do, and don't look back.
VV has to be better. While I won't pin the loss on him last night, the first goal against should have been stopped and again, that changes complexion / momentum of game. At this point VV still gives us our best chance to come back and win this series.
Not sure we put in Luke just yet - that's a move that seems, dare I say, desperate? We are only down 1-0, but if Ruff does decide to plug him in I would be ecstatic.
Rangers weren't the better team, they just came out and executed their game-plan better than we did. So does that actually make them the better team? Sure, why not. Who cares.
Lastly, as we all have said, this series will come down to special teams, and goaltending. It truly showed last night.
Hoping for a much better performance on Thursday night.

So in game 2 we’ll witness firsthand why Palat was such a valuable signing, right? “Playoff performer” and all that (whilst being on a team with Stamkos, Kucherov, Point, Hedman, and a goalie that stops everything). |
|
|
|
Optional skate today for the Devils, so probably won't know of any changes(if any actually happen) until tomorrow. |
