Stop it.. They went 7-2-1 over there last 10 and beat Rangers x2, Carolina, NJD and Islanders. They lost the 2nd NJD game to a better team. They did pretty damn good (91) pts for not being a very big hitting team.

Now I agree that we need to be more physical, but what we don't need is new players to do that. Playing Physical is a mindset and should be demanded by Donnie. you don't need to lay someone out all you need to do is finish your checks ALL THE TIME.

Senators led the regular season with hits.

When I was younger I had this Coach. Coach Robertson used to tell us that throwing hits is great and can change the momentum of a game sometimes. But he always said he would rather us be tough to play against, strong on the boards or bellow the dot and goal. Didn't always need the big hit to get the puck. Win the puck battle, throw a shoulder into a chest or a hard butt into a hip and win the puck battle. After 3 periods of getting shoulders in the chest or a butt to the hip all game long changes the complection of things to.

But all the teams that played, whom also all presumably want to win, were hitting more. That’s because they recognize the value in playing tough in the playoffs. Which is the point. People pretending that hit count is being presented as a singular indication of a winning team are being disingenuous.

Checking is an art. if your forwards are always finishing their checks it leads to nervous defenseman, Nervous defensemen tend to get rushed when pressured. that leads to give aways. those giveaways lead to scoring opportunities, which lead to goals

all just by finishing every check you can.

Now if you want to change the momentum of a game, then you go out and Truck someone.

Didn't have to blow there load to sniff the playoffs, competent Goaltending for 3/4 of the year would have had them in the playoffs. Which would have been a immense learning experience for the Youngest Team in the League.

Carolina didn't hit in the regular season... yet they laid 39 checks last night.

No one here knows what our team would have looked like in a 7 game series. Especially the guys grasping at the last 11 years.

8 of the top 10 hitting teams missed the post season. 4 of the bottom 10 teams in hits per game played last night, and had a ton of hits. It's almost like the regular season hit counts have zero correlation to the playoffs.
One can read all they want, but whats the point if they can't comprehend what they read eh
