If you follow the conversation, it wasn't suggested it was because of age. In fact, both Tomahawk and myself pointed out that it wasn't about age. - MJL
I think the idea is that Hart's next contract will be $$$ and the team will be in a rebuilding state for the majority of it. By the time the team is ready to turn a corner he's probably gonna be past his peak.
Not to mention that having a good goalie around is not conducive to maximizing draft position during the next little while.
Plus Ersson seems decent and Fedotov could be in the mix starting next season. - Tomahawk
Making assumptions that because a goalie becomes established earlier than others around his age that his “peak” will be earlier or that his prime will be shorter is illogical. Ersson and Fedotov are not established and are around the same age. The conversation should be about contract, trade value, experience vs. inexperience and not about being beyond a “peak” compared to a “peak” of unknowns of similar age.
Personally, it seems unlikely that the Flyers will be offered enough in trade for Hart to make it worth it to lose the goaltending stability they have currently. We’ll see.

I am sure there was a conversation on the conditions of return to the line-up. So, when you place a condition in front of your kid, good parenting would be not to renegotiate till this condition is met. How do you know that this conversation did not happen? And do you know what was/ were condition(s) for the TDA return on the ice. - missingmike

Could you even imagine a motivated Provorov paired with Seider?
Filip Zadina from what I can tell has been a huge disappointment but I wonder if fans here would be willing to trade Provorov for one of the Wings first round picks in this year draft and Filip Zadina as a project? - SuperSchennBros
I think he'd fit into their D corps nicely. They only have 4 Dmen signed to the active roster for next year with Edvinsson and Wallinder in the minors. I'd honestly be happy with just a first for Provorov. If they're adamant on only giving up one of their 3 seconds then I would push for a B tier prospect like Soderblom (guy is 6'8") or one of their U of Denver kids Mazur or Buium. They have Zadina signed for the next couple years so it's possible they'd like to hold onto him, but I'd be OK with him in a deal as well. |

I agree that Provy does have high value. He is a top pair LHD dman who plays every game and pretty much every shift. I do think he can get a 1st + a prospect. I would expect him to be rejuvenated on his new team and have a good season. - Trox88
I think the teams biggest need right now is a RHD. Does Provy get you a blue chipper?
I'm ok with their forwards for next year if everyone's healthy, at least they are building on it.
Trading provy is going to leave a gaping hole in the D and Risto would be your first pair RHD (ugh)

I do not get the rush to trade Hart- a young reliable goalie that this fan base had been praying for for years. Now, folks want to trade him for questionable assets and rely on other goalies.
I especially, don't understand how from my statement about Fedotov only his age came to play. he has not played or practice competitively for a year. - missingmike
Fedotov is a complete unknown at this point. We did at least see Ersson play. But yeah, it would be potentially back to the goalie carousel and question marks for stability in goal. It is like Flyers fans returning to baseline….water finding its level.

Will any media have the balls to ask Torts about him being too lazy to coach every game? - Feanor
I have no problem with him observing from above in the meaningless games. Actually, trying to see a bigger picture from the different vantage point and communicate your observations to your boss in real time is work.
These games have had the same significance as preseason games, and I believe, the coaches often step away from the bench in the preseason.
Torts is far from perfect, and he is very temporary here. I am not opposed to critiquing him, I am opposed to a binary treatment of him on this board, especially, when we do not have all of the facts in our possession. |

it states that the coach has not spoken to the player - how does the head coach set the expectation for the player when he doesn't speak to him? |

Torts has said in press conferences that he has spoken to TA. So maybe the article is wrong. |

Lazy? Such a hater.
He probably wanted to get a different look/view of how the team was playing. Shortly after he was up in the rafters TDA was benched.

hypothetical, what if the HC established the expectation earlier in the season. reinforced it many times throughout the season. How many times should a HC have to reinforce the same expectation? Torts already scratched DeAngelo earlier in the season because of performance. I tend to believe this end of season is more of tbe same of DeAngelo's performance seen thru the entire season as opposed to something new. |

What word would you use to describe it when Rod BrindAmour just said he would never take a night off, not even to watch his son play for a national championship? And every other head coach in the league is behind the bench for every single game.
It's making Briere and the Flyers look like a joke of an organization. Too timid to tell the little old man they are paying $4m a year to actually do his job.

I answered above.
We do not know why TDA was suspended, for how long TDA was suspended, what were conditions to end suspension?
Often, this board treats Tort's snarky responses as BS, but in this case it's 100% true.
Again, Torts is flawed, but not black and white.

Sounds positive, Atkinson believes he will be cleared for contact next week. Never want to see an athlete's career cut short by injury. |

Not so much. When Flyers are ever back in a playoff race again, Torts (if he is still coach) will be on bench. |

It is refreshing to see that results matter for some franchises. When Mario makes a mistake, he corrects it. |
