He pretty much had his best season in the NHL but was still only #15 in goals saved above expected. So yeah... good but not great pretty much sums him up atm.
I think he would get something along the lines of the Sanheim contract. - Tomahawk
Really? Over $6 mil? I’ll pass. There are a lot of really good teams out there doing just fine spending less than that on both their goalies combined.

Please remind me of who hextall drafted in the mid to late rounds. I know frost and Konecny but I can't remember who else beyond the first rounds. Lindblom? Who else?
I don't recall him drafting well - Bob Habib

$6M might be on the low end. They'd mostly be buying up UFA years from him.
Guessing he'd probably get more from the Flyers than on the open market, tho. |

One of the great weaknesses of Hexy was his inability to draft centers. He certainly tried and used high picks- Laberge, Rubtsov, O'Brien, Frost, and Patrick. He was decent at LHD, winger and goalie.
I'll be curious after the next 3 yrs how Fletcher's drafts compares to Hexy's. |

As bad as that is to stomach because of what they moved to get him, I think that’s the right call. They have a ton of forwards, cap could be used better. |

You mentioned Gauthier in your comments. Either way, there aren't any mid to late round picks drafted by Fletcher playing a regular role on the team. It seems like counting chickens before they're hatched to me. |

Like MJL said, CFs picks are still unproven but they look to have solid futures. York seems solid, even though many wanted Caufield. Brink looks good, especially after coming off of surgery. Andrae looks very promising. Attard looks like a pleasant surprise. Wisdom is a project but has potential. And gedron may still be the steel of that draft if he continues this level of play. I know that the Q is high scoring but DAMN that kid can put the biscuit in the basket. I really hope that it translates to the next level.
Foerester has potential to be a cornerstone and he lookes GREAT in his small sample size. Desnoyers looks like he could be the next Laughton as a Swiss army knife.
All in all I give ol chuck a solid A for his drafting so far. It's one (and the only) thing that I think that he was good at. But time will tell.....
And as philly fans, we have nothing but time at this point.
As we always say... maybe next year
Remind me who drafted ersson, kosolov, and fedotov.... I could look it up but I know someone is smart enough to remember off the top of their heads. Plus my potty break is almost over
Those are 3 potential solid picks as well.
I think fedotov was a while back. Hexy drafted errson? And CF took kosolov? Am I remembering right? |

I feel like feltch has pulled more mid to late round picks than hextall did. If attard, andrae, Kaplan, and Brink develop nicely then CF has already outdone hextall. Add I'm gedron, who may be the biggest surprise. Wouldn't that be nice?!
The biggest blunder of CFs drafting will be cutter over jiricek. That just my opinion but I don't see cutter ever being the better pick out of the two. Again, I hope I am wrong, but that's just my opinion at this time
But now I have to ask.. why do you think that hextall and CFs drafting were on par with one another? - Bob Habib
Wasn’t that what was being said about Hextall drafted players for years? I don’t think it’s currently better but I will give it time. |

Yeah, same with Homer's promising dcorps too. You just never know how things will turn out.
If you're a Flyers fans you're pretty much expecting some level of disappointment tho, lol. |

Lindblom 5th round, Cates 5th round, Ersson 5th round. Decent late round pics. I looked after 3rd round because you said mid to late. Fedotov and Laczynski TBD to see if they can have NHL careers.
Not promoting or defending just listing players that became more than a tweener. |

Fair argument but I didn't see as much potential in those players as I do with the current crop of kids. But I agree that only tike will tell
But Emil does look like the real deal so far. He is an exciting player to watch and has made a very nice transition to the AHL |

There’s also the fact that Flyer fans are never satisfied with good players, always think they should be better. |

Yeah, it's just been a long time since they've drafted and developed any real high-end talent. There would be less nitpicking if they had turned out just one or two elite players over the years. |

I think a 1st, 3rd and a blue chip prospect. He wants 10 mil per. Personally I don't think he is worth it. Maybe if he was a center. |

TDA got three draft picks, I would start there if I were the Sens. |

I did hear he was going to offer top 2 draft pick consulting services through a new venture. So should you have a top 2 pick, you can source 27 and he will storm into your war room - ignore the scouts and then draft a bust.
It is a fee based service, but one he does specialize in. - Joe Nardone

The thing is, if you are the Flyers you really can't trade him given what they gave up and they would be selling extremely low. The best bet is he comes back next year, pleays good for 3 months, no issues, and the Flyers can unload him around the deadline. If the Flyers can get a 2nd next trade deadline, that would be good considering. |
