There's a theory going around that Rod yells at the refs so much because he doesn't want the Canes to get powerplays. They get more momentum from killing penalties than from their poopty powerplay. - BINGO!
That's a pretty wild theory |

A slightly less than mediocre PP would be just magical. - Wildschwein
We have a mediocre PP and we win this series. |

It's more a running joke than a theory I guess but I do wish he'd shut the (frank) up sometimes |

Yeah he can get a little whiny
His interview on Friedman's podcast was good the other day. He seems like a big advocate for taking two officials off the ice to be video review guys and reviewing all penalties called. |

He’s far too angry a man to ever keep quiet. |

I feel like there’s a razor thin margins(disregarding metrics before MattStratt chimes in lol) between these two teams that if we turned it up a notch and semi fixed our PP we would be in a pretty good spot. |

Last time the Isles played the Canes I felt good after game one even though it was a loss. It seemed like it would be a matter of time before the Isles looked as sharp as they did against the Pens, and once they did, they'd rattle off some wins and take control of the series.
Now? The Isles have to show me at least once that they can actually beat this team before I'll believe they can win a series against it. The Isles have beat teams that are probably better than these Canes they're currently up against, but they just have a world of trouble against this particular team.
Maybe it's as simple as the Canes' system is just the antidote to the Isles' system. I think that's certainly true for high-powered offensive teams that the Isles are able to grind down...it's not that the Isles are better than those teams, it's more that their system, when executed well, blunts the high-octane style those teams play. So maybe there's a similar dynamic here or something. Who knows.
What they won't be able to do in a day is reinvent the way they play. But one thing they can do is get as close to perfect execution as they can possibly get. They need way sharper passes than what we saw last night, and for God's sake they need Horvat to be more than a faceoff specialist. |

Agreed. Last night the Isles lost most of the loose puck battles, and the Canes just seemed to have more jump for most of the game, getting to loose pucks quicker. The Isles aren't going to win games unless they out-hustle the Canes. It would also help if the refs swallow their whistles, because the Isles are going to lose if it comes down to special team play.
