It’s a seven game series.

We lost game 1.

FFS, everyone calm down.

- Atomic Wedgie

Teams that win game 1 win what? 65% of series. Couple that with the Leafs recent history and losing home ice advantage. I can see where the cynicism comes from

Brodie was closer to perry. Holl was in the corner first. All on Brodie.
- drexel

Careful, defending Holl’s defending is not a popular thing to do around here lol

Its gotta be Knies.
Jarnkrok with Matthews where he belongs.
Knies line 2, move down O'Reilly to centre the 3rd line.
I didn't think our bottom six would struggle against Tampa's, they absolutely shouldn't have, but the sure (frank)ing did.

- UsernameUnknown

I only saw the first two periods thankfully, but the big problem was, top to bottom, they were outworked all over the ice.

Brodie had a poop game. That penalty he took at the end of the first was insanely stupid and the 3-0 goal that came out of it late was a back breaker.

Holl Out, ZAR out

Knies in, Holmberg in, Gustafson in

- Azuredoom

Schenn comes out before Holl and would be replaced by Liljegren, not Gus. I can’t see them bringing in two new forwards. ZAR would probably only come out if Bunting isn’t suspended

Talking about the 1st goal when Perry walked out front of the net and got the shot off. Holl went for the hit and got walked.

Defend this

I cannot imagine Simmonds and Holl on the ice together

You watched more than I did, so maybe my assessment was off
They were just sloppy all around. I liked their physicality in the 1st when it was ugly but still competitive. And i liked O'Rielly. After that, it was pure dogpoop.
Rielly can take a walk. If they sat him for Gustafsson, I wouldn't bat an eye.

Their bottom six destroyed our bottom six. Destroyed them.

Their lines were better than ours all over the ice.

Their defence was better than ours missing their #1 and literally playing with 4 (frank)ing defenceman.

Our goalie blew.

Absolutely nothing to like about that game.

And took his sweet time getting back into the play so the man he should have taken after getting walked ends up scoring

Fun fact: teams that win game 2 also win 65% of the series.

I saw 3 other plays like that with no calls.

I get the calls but I don’t like when they call some and let other go. That is the game management that is frustrating.

Spend 85 million dollars on payroll and have a 200k former has been dictate games.

Makes sense

Holl absolutely should be the first D out, and replaced by Liljegren. But Keefe will never. Forwards probably stay the same. I'd take Lafferty out if anything

TBay in 6.
Shanahan and Dubas fired.
Matthews traded before July 1.

Not much to like, but there were a few big hits, and our 2nd line.

Maybe. But also, that would be stupid.
Gio-Lily is a good pair. I'd have no issues with that. Holl played well down the stretch and is capable of good hockey. I dont have Gigsy disease, but tonight he was particularly bad. Schenn wasn't. Gotta sit your worst guys if you want accountability. They were Holl/ZAR /Sammy IMO. I'd like to see all 3 out and replaced.
What's the point in having depth if they dont utilize it when others underperform?

Me neither.

It's up there in my to-do list though.

When I worked in Toronto, use to get corporate boxes or lower bowl tickets from vendors. It is a nice building and a good place to see a game, good sight-lines from pretty much everywhere - especially if you are not paying for tickets, food and/or beer.

BTW, I got on your (frank) the refs train in the second. Messier and Chelios called it the worst officiating they’ve seen in a long time.
- Canada Cup

I just hate when people sit there and say "stop blaming the refs", but sometimes it's obvious. Yes, the team can suck but so can the refs.

This isn't binary.

Holl was absolute trash and guilty on 2goals.
He also effed up an offensive zone possession when he couldn’t take a pass laterally and knocked it out of the zone.

When your only point in the lineup is to defend and you’re a liability you’re getting replaced.

Schenn was fine and the cross check penalty was a joke.

The reffing in the first didn’t particularly bother me. It was a different story in the second. That’s separate from my feelings about the team. I just think it was really that much of an issue until it became an issue.

It's predictable, happens every year.
