Agree with Sensy….Bunting leans into a taller player to deliver a hit just as he crouches down. Still head contact, but not intentional.
Keefe didn’t have them ready to start the game
Calls on Kampf and Schenn were ridiculous
Justin Holl was incredibly bad, other than one good blocked shot on PK
Kerfoot sucked
Sammy was bad, In Woll we trust |

Kampf’s and Schenn’s penalties were (frank)ing weak.
Changed the game.
Bunting is a (frank)ing idiot.
Has anyone seen the puck 100% across the line?
A review of a goal should be to prove the pick was in,
Not just be enough to overturn a refs call.
And you can literally see Sammy’s pad get pushed in.
Leafs were outplayed. TBay in 6.
Fire management and trade Matthews.
I don’t think he resigns.

Leafs turn up their intensity in the playoffs and they consistently get the book thrown at them hard. Why? I suspect because there's a perception around the league that they're a "soft" team so any increase in intensity and/or physicality boggles ref's minds.
Nonsense? Maybe, but the amount of ticky tack bs that gets called against this team is absurd. Confirmation bias? Maybe, but I don't give a (frank). |

Thought Tampa's bottom 6 were strong all night. The only other thing that stood out to me was the intensity coming from the play of Brayden Point. Seems to be so much force coming from such a little guy. |

This is the wakeup call the leafs need to put on their big boy pants and play to their potential for the rest of the series.
The big wildcard is goaltending, but you put Samsonov back in nets and the d-men should be pissed off enough with their preformance last night to take care of their own end and give him the confidence he needs to play like he can.

I've come to the determination that I will not be happy with anything less than a 3rd round appearance by the Leafs. As such I will not be watching the remainder of this series. I won't be happy if they lose, and I won't be happy if they win.
I'm not going to put myself through the emotional torture that is watching this team play in the first round of the playoffs.
Terrible start, looked like lost little boys out there.
Great start to the 2nd period, then "game management" officiating took over and took the wind out of the Leafs sails
Bunting with a Kadri-esque bonehead play. Bench him for the remainder of the series. If not, demote him to the 4th line. He's a liability at this point
Still trying to wrap my head around the non-goal, goal call with questionable goaltender interference
I'm too old for this poop. |

My eye test is supported by Natural Stat Trick. 34 had the Point line playing on their heels most shifts. Kampf line was winning the battle against Paul ....the (frank)ing Perry line got the best of Accairi most of the night though.
HD chances were 15-6 for the Leafs at 5v5. Leafs were more than fine at 5v5.
The inexcusable gaffe by Holl for the first goal was an individual mistake ...second goal was a bad TO by Marner ......then 4 PP goals. Game over. - The Law
Too bad about your eyes. The rest of the world saw the Leafs getting owned last night.

Leafs the worst offenders...so dirty - senstroll
I predicted this,
I would love to see a breakdown of calls during the Leafs playoff series losses... how many calls where when the game was within a goal. The Leafs seem to get a few make calls once the game is likely out of reach.
I would also like to know why players from other teams never get a "reputation" and become a target for the refs... Game 6 last year, the Tampa player who threw his head up on the phantom high stick should be embarassing for the league. The Tampa player who threw his head back on the phantom highstick from Luke Schenn embarrassed the league. |

Tampa out-worked and out-played them.
It would be nice to have a game where you didn't feel like the refs were a factor though. |

This is the stuff that’s annoying. Leafs make it a game at 3-2 and immediately get another ticky tacky call. This changed the game. Tb scores and makes it 4-2 and then bunting does something stupid. - bryant
That URL didn't work for me, but this is what you were sharing I think: https://twitter.com/i/status/1648516944537190403
That's not ticky tack - it's not a penalty. There is nothing about that to call. It was just a bad call. I mean at the time they are making THAT call, Nick Paul is busy slashing the crap out of McCabe for a legal hit standing up Essymount at the blueline.
That was a key moment that really turned the tables back.
Horrible start, horrible first. Unprepared, blah, blah, blah. They wouldn't be the first team to get off to a rocky start and then get their feet and get it going. But that whole play right there encapsulated what I think changed the game.

Yeah, it’s pretty hard to say that the refs stole the game from the Leafs who seemed determined to do that themselves. What the refs did though was help crush a legitimate comeback effort with some retched calls in the second. |

Samsonov, by his own admission, played like poop last night.
Tampa scored 4 of their goals on the PP in 8 chances.

Crazy that every road team won last night. 6 of 8 have gone to the away team so far.
Not sure what to make of that, but it's pretty goofy. |

It's pretty obvious Bunting was going for a hit with Cernak in advance of the puck battle and he f'd up his delivery and caught him wrong. It's a bad play and whether he gets suspended or not is largely irrelevant.
This was Ryan Hartman on Ehlers which netted 1 regular season game: https://youtu.be/GNnqNKHpsD8
This was Bunting on Cernak: https://youtu.be/B521U39Lybk
What Bunting did was less intentional than what Hartman did, and delivered with an equal amount of lack of malice - in other words both anticipated the other player to be similarly battling with them in some capacity. Bunting was trying to get the jump on an anticipated bump from Cernak, and Hartman thought Ehlers was going to hit him after he had played the puck.
Ultimately Hartman was suspended once previously in 2018, and Bunting has never been suspended. So if you're comparing these two incidents, the most Bunting should get is one game.
I felt the call on Kampf stemmed the tide of the Leafs' potential comeback. The call on Schenn was terrible, but was moot. It was just more fodder for our rage.
I would stick with Sammy. He's had bad games here and there and bounced back and played excellent all season. He deserves the opportunity to do it right.
And yes: Holl was definitely a weak link. I even think Tampa keyed in on him. There was a moment in last night's game where they noted that Tampa was shooting for rebounds on Samsonov - but it seemed to be when Holl was on the ice and on Holl's side - they knew Holl wasn't going to tie them up at the net or stop them from getting to the rebound. If he is in game 2, that better be something the coaching staff is managing with his play.
