speaking of ridiculous steamboats. Remember when Macho Man dropped the bell on Ricky and crushed his larynx? that was good tv - drexel
Ricky stepping into the ring with the Macho Man Randy Savage and escaping with his life was a lucky, lucky, lucky Ricky. Comparatively speaking to the Macho Man Randy Savage, Ricky Steamboat is a grain of sand in the Sahara desert - AND MACHO MAN IS THE ENTIRE DESERT! OH YEAH! DIG IT! |

Lol people pre-complaining about the reffing in the Leafs series before its even started |
|

Dumbs hit was a beauty hit - crappy result but good hockey hit.
The David Frost thing goes MUCH deeper than Quinte. And Kevin Weekes should absolutely say something as he was not directly involved but he mentored our age group when we played in MTHL - in summer training and he came out to practices all the time.
The entire Frost thing is so much more involved than what was aired publicly |

The Leafs would have had ample time to address that issue if they felt it was one. We don't know.

It is bizarre that the NHL would allow this perceived conflict of interest. |

I have only read one tweet about the abusing of Keefe when he was a player?
Idk seems like something the NHL would have been smart to avoid. Not that it will change the outcome, but the 1st round has a bunch of officials to choose from.
30 seconds of conducting a few words to post on social media to voice displeasure about it is whatever. Pretty fair and effortless way of doing it. Call me when people are halting traffic on the Gardiner with signs saying "the refs are (frank)ing us again" |

Don't worry, I'm not actually making fun of people complaining about the refs before the series has started.
I'm making fun of you.

It is more than man. Without trying to sound like a butthead - I know factually. Same team same circle of friends and teammates for a long time. |

USA Hockey has both minor and major penalties for charging. You get 5 if there was an intent to injure. I’d be ok with that addition and an automatic review by DOPS |

Lightning fans are complaining about McCauley who tossed Cooper from a game. - Canada Cup
Wes McCauley reserves the right to prove me wrong, but statistically, he's one of the better refs in the league. The only ref to work more games than him was Ghislain Hebert (76 games to 75). McCauley has more of a let-them-play to his style - calling the second fewest penalties per game (6.6) out of all the refs with more than 30 games (36 refs). The other ref, L'Ecuyer, tends to call more - 10th most among those same refs - @ 7.9 / game. On average home teams win 59% of the time; they win 58% of McCauley's games and 60% of L'Ecuyer's games.
McCauley had the highest percentage of OT games, and L'Ecuyer had one of the lower percentages. Despite having more of a let-them-play attitude, McCauley had one of the lowest Major penalty percentages, and L'Ecuyer had one of the highest.
In other words, the officiating pairing is almost designed by contrasting styles to cover more of the game and more aspects, but both refs have a decent statistical track record.
The conflict of interest notwithstanding, there is nothing specific that would indicate that McCauley has officiated in a manner that is detrimental to one team or the other. |
