Barkov is not captain material, Thkchuk is. I'm sure the other players respect him, but expect more from him. Thkchuk, Gudas, etc have taken matters into their own hands to get this team fired up. Complacency will never get you the Stanley Cup.

I disagree. i dont think Matthew would make a great captain and he will prove that in the next couple years. He already abandoned one team and was complaining outside of the locker room this year about how he's upset with the play of the Panthers. He's good for an A.
Great, great player. Big fan but he's also hot headed and can be a dink on the ice. The tough guy act wears thin. You want your captain to be able to talk to refs. Not chirp them. It's the equivalent to naming Marchand Captain over Patrice to be honest.
That being said, the player that won 70% of his faceoffs and killed over 2 1/2 minutes of powerplays was more important to the Panthers last night.
