I don't. Nothing from last night or today should get you (or anybody else) mad. It's all been pretty measured.

I'm just messing around. Feels pretty decent today. Might be the least stressful day we experience going forward.

I just want somebody to convince me that Natural Stat Trick is 100% accurate and fool proof

if we have to see these stats, is seems a reasonable request

- jimbro83

You could just scroll past it. Some of us are capable of nuance don't mind looking at the stats with the understanding that they need to be taken in some context.

Tom posted the chart and Chytil was higher than I expected him to be in game score. I asked a question and Tom and I had a good exchange about the play of the kid line.

You can talk hockey while looking at the numbers, but you refuse to. You want something to be 100% accurate before you even acknowledge it. That isn't reasonable nor is it how the rest of the world works

This is my issue with it somewhat too. I don't mind glancing at the stats and seeing how it correlates at times. But until a robot is doing it (and even then). I am not sure how trustable some of the data is. I'm sure most of the games the results track well and are reliable. I'm sure it will get better too.

I feel like Baseball is the best example of a game you can heavily (almost exclusively) rely on analytics for. Hockey may be the least, currently. I also feel like it takes some of the fun out of it. I don't want to worry about Corsi and Fenwick sometimes. I just want to watch the game and wait for those moments that can't be predicted.

I wanna know who is keeping track of the numbers and why I should trust that guy's opinion what a high danger chance is

yeah, baseball if perfect for analytics, if a guy hits to a spot 76% of the time against right handed pitchers, yeah, I'd play my fielders there

I feel like football is more predictable than hockey. Maybe the wild card is their officiating which is like a "hold my beer situation" between them and the NHL.

I also am very indifferent about and do not watch football often.

This is largely how I feel about it. I watch the games and form my own opinions on what happened and then after the game sometimes its fun to look at the stats and see if what I saw agrees with the stats. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't sometimes I'll dig a little deeper but most of the times I just shrug it off. They don't make me angry though lol

and just to review, because of analytics, which is only 3rd on your list of the 4 major sports, you went into this series stating the Rangers had no shot against the Devils.

I don't know, there is so much going on during every single play and so many flags thrown that it makes it pretty unpredictable to me. It's not nearly as improvisational as hockey but there are a lot more layers to every single play.

I've become mostly indifferent to football too, so I will also admit defeat if someone proves me wrong

what makes me angry is someone telling me as a fan not to have any hope because the analytics say we dont have a prayer

taking hope away kills being a fan, THATS WHY I HATE THEM

It is that is why you are seeing teams pass more, run less and go for it more on 4th downs. Analytics are just starting to creep into football. It's heavily impacted by human decisions/emotion. In hockey they started creeping in around 07/08

I get all of that and do agree but football still seems borderline scripted to me, like watching a WWE match.

You are truly blinded by hate.
I (and many others, I'm sure) have read every post written on every blog on here for longer than I can estimate and he didn't say anything even remotely like that.
You are spending more time complaining about one poster than you are enjoying the team you claim to love so much. Doesn't that seem like something you have a measure of control over??

Football mainly comes in with play calling and whether or not to go on fourth down. Football Outsiders is a great resource and interesting annual to read. But can get very overwhelming
