Chiarot (younger, cheaper) for Petry (retain .5M)

Not enough offense upside for Chiarot. I'd rather have Petry.

I think when people look at Jarry's numbers, they are surprised how decent they are. To me, the biggest problems with Jarry is that his below average play happens way too often and the # of games he misses. There are times he looks like a legit stud. That's another reason why I'd favor resigning Jarry to a reasonable 2-3 year bridge deal and signing a top tier backup goalie.

he has shown glimmers where he is a clear 1a goalie, he just has yet to put up a 1a goalie full season, and so it would be hard to pay him that, hence why a bridge deal makes all the sense in the world.

Hextalls 1st red flag was how he handled the expansion draft. I didn't pay much attention at the time but LOL WTF was he thinking?

Trade McCann for pennies and protect Carter?
Protected Kap, Blueger.

Left Zucker and Petterson exposed....Imagine if SEA picked them up and how bad they'd be today. Dodged a bullet there.

I don't want to defend Hextall, but I guarantee you he had a handshake deal with Carter to not expose him in that draft. From what I remember, Hextall had to convince Carter to waive his NTC to come here. It was widely speculated he asked for a guarantee he would be protected in that draft. If that's the case, I have no problem with it. Extending him was the idiotic move.

Also, Most fans didn't want Zucker or Petts back either. Petts had been up and down with a pretty expensive contract and Zucker couldn't stay healthy. At the time it seemed like good cap dumps. Seattle didn't want them either.

McCann.... There's your disaster. Nobody could understand that stupidity.

Agree with Z and Petts. They were not the players they are today. Just saying without them, hard to tell where hte Pens would be today. Much worse.

McCann would have solved a lot of issues at the 3C position. He's only 26, would have made a huge difference. That move lead to extending Carter, Bonino, Granlund....barf.
