good to hear. personally I've had better days to be honest, but I'm fine. I'm just really (frank)ing pissed off at the whole situation concerning the strike, I've been working for the government for almost 7 years now and I was just informed that I wasn't a "registered" union member, so I didn't get to vote at all. as a matter of fact almost 2/3 of employees didn't vote, really messed up imho. - Pat1993
how come you did not know that? You just assumed that you were and they never gave you a heads up? |

What a poopty situation. Look at your pay stubs, if you have union deductions then they have to represent you. Otherwise they shouldn't be taking money from you - mr.peanut
good advice there |

Union thugs are scum. They just care about themselves. The union rep at my work is like that |

exactly, I just assumed I became a registered member the moment I was hired. I know I'm technically part of the union right now, since everyone employed by the government falls under its protection, but I wasn't aware there was such a thing as a "registration" process, no one ever told me anything about it. |

I think it varies a lot depending on who's in charge of a particular union, some aren't as scummy and shady as this.

Probably not, but that's how my union is.
They don't care about the individual. Only the collective. |

No union at all is not the solution either cause then your boss can do whatever he wants and you cant do poop if you are for example being harrassed at your job like I used to be.
A union that respects and works for its members is what should be needed, but I realised its not always that way either, sadly. |

there's a certain logic to that, and it shouldn't mean not giving out the actual vote numbers from the get-go, and pretending like a strong majority of employees were in favor of the strike, even if that clearly wasn't the case...

the irony is that the collective is nothing but a bunch of individuals....
its a tactic used across society by the way, not just by unions |

Even non-unionized workers are protected from that. Been like 50 years. CNESST exists for a reason. |

I am watching the Laval - Utica game and honestly, it is a bit scary…. The big club finished bottom 5 and the AHL club does not have much talent…
A lot of dump and chase…. Can’t win important faceoffs…. I hope the Habs is not counting on Laval to improve their lineup next year…. Very ordinary at best… |

Yup. Contribute, buy when you have an issue "oh ah nothing we can do"
Then a week later... "the union and the reps are meeting for conference in Mt tremblant for a weekend " |

sometimes it does require an independent third party though to get a fair resolution.

my mental health was at risk and he was just pushing me over the edge. Its a difficult job to begin with. It gets worse and gets impossible if you are low on staff. Add your boss harrassing you...and its over. Where could I find the energy to fight for my rights in that situation?
It just became a poopty job, with a poopty boss, with a poopty salary.
And (frank) the god damn Bruins.... |
